John Jensen i think that if someone passes all of the student admission requirements then he/she should be allowed to pursue a university education. i don't believe in low standards for admitting students though.

Snafu they do that all of the time. as a matter of fact amercians are always out protesting. its just that our press and apparently your press never mention it for some reason that i can't seem to figure out. (sarcasm). even right wing groups which is what this guy joseph sounds like go out in large numbers and protest things. i tend to disagree with them but still they are out there too.

Rochyan i'm curious as to how much in money does the average person in scotland pay per year in taxes that goes to funding the free tuition for college students?

PJ university tuition is too high both here in the usa and in the uk. i think that the idea of tuition being free isn't practical but i think that a compromise can be reached to lower the costs thus lowering the amount of debt for the students. then again i would predict that more than likely the lower the cost for admissions, the higher the standards will be to be accepted for admissions. you might like that and so you should be in favor of lowering the tuition.

Torrentialrx if they did make it so tuition was free in england then i would predict that they would also raise the standards for admittance too so there would be fewer kids being able to attend college.

TheDrumSquad about how much would an average tax payer in europe pay for the free university education for students in a year? i'm just curious.

QueenOfAmber i'm curious how much the average tax payer in your country would pay in a year that would go towards free tuition for the students.

promontorium you can blame reagan for that when he was governor. i went to a CSU school and only paid 8 hundred something dollars for a semester. it was well worth it. i worked nights and went to school in the day and paid it off each semester and never had a student loan hanging over my head when i graduated.

***** the whole world has been indoctrinated. we aren't any different. right wingers these days have gone insane. there are many things that other 1st world countries are kicking our asses in and many of them like their western socialistic way of doing things. it's just that out here we don't trust anyone or anything and so when we hear about free tuition for university students, we think of kids wasting tax payer money on keggers, useless degrees and if you are a right winger "liberal brainwashing." just to name a few things. we are individualistic and its hard to imagine a guy from the working class whose kids joined the working class or are still in school agreeing to pay through his taxes someone else's kids to pay for their college. we think in individualistic ways. that's us though. if people in other countries see their role in their societies differently then that's fine too. also the cost of a college education generally speaking is way too high in the usa as well as the uk and that is because it has become too profit driven. its the same reason why our health care system is so outrageously high compared to other 1st world countries.

Gregory Warmoth my college that i attended was full of conservatives for some reason. there was virtually no campus life as far as fraternities/clubs/sports etc. the students like e did seem very focused and students seemed to typically do well as far as grades though.

***** i think that if they really did get free education then the university standards of admission would become much tougher for the kids putting in their applications for enrollment. there really should be a middle ground where the students and the schools can meet. a free university education is asking too much for the tax payers of the UK but still you all are paying too much and this is coming from an american.

Vintage Michael i don't think that free tuition for college is something that can practically work in a place like the UK (or the usa for that matter) but there should be some kind of place where everybody could meet in the middle and significantly lower the costs for the students. most of the usa (except california where i live) has a problem with student debts like they do in the UK only their debts are higher. the idea for having a free university education is out here in the usa but nobody pushes for it because that would everybody knows that it would never happen out here. when i went to college over 15 years ago, i paid under $1700 dollars for a years worth of tuition which is extremely cheap compared to the other states but that's an exception and not how it normally is for other students back then. like i was saying, there would have to be a middle ground somewhere.
