  1. most people would think that it was stupid but still it was interesting to see them performing ancient rituals from the ancient greek days.  that would actually make a good show for tourists.

  2. philosophically the concept of god is an idea that every person who believes in a god will project their own ideal/neurosis onto that image.  for example:  you will have your own idealized image of god but many of the people that you go to church with will have a slightly different image of god than you do.  these guys would hypothetically separate the gods/goddesses into different spheres of influence on the world whereas the christian god is a jack of all trades and there isn't supposed to be any other gods.  there is no such thing as one true religion.  if their was then what would god have against hindus from the indus valley 2-4000 years ago or chinese people 2500 years ago.  i can go on forever pointing out civilizations that pre-dated jesus who didn't even know that the region of the world where the hebrews and jesus hailed from existed.  perhaps a deeper way of looking at it would be that god gave different religions to different people throughout the world at different times?
