I think he’s a narcissist who’s sorry for himself because he’s been challenged about what he did. His idealised ego is under threat. Reality and what a nothing he really is, might get exposed. He can’t accept that reality. He might react with tears or, anger. Genuine emotion is foreign to them. They can only mimic the behaviour of other people. As Jesus said - the victims and what happened weren’t really mentioned. Narcissists don’t think of other people with empathy because they feel superior to everyone else. We’re like ants, to them, in their efforts to be as grandiose as possible, to escape facing their insecurities and failures.
