  1. Fear and excitement trigger the same physiological reactions, eg dilated pupils and increased heart rate. No problem if watching television. In person, particularly if female, excitement can be extremely dangerous if it overides fear. Fear can sometimes protect us. In modern society, we have more freedom than many women of previous generations had. That’s a good thing but dangers obviously still exist. Confidence, yes. Low awareness - no.
