  2. Unconditional surrender, after WWII, only occured after the virtual defeat of both countries and with horrific fatalities and casualties on all sides, including civilians. Though it may be early for such considerations, the prospect of a period of occupation, reparations and charges against the perpetrators for war crimes would seem appropriate conditions for any surrender. From what I have seen of the Russian media, they already seem concerned about the possible outcomes that they may be facing, including the media "personalities" themselves for their part in the WAR. They already seem aware that defeat is likely.

  3. Your analysis sounds very reasonable. At the very least, in terms of what you have suggested, there may be a reshuffle of "chairs" and possibly some in-fighting for what remains of the spoils. The possibility and consequences of Putin's untimely demise may be a "wild-card" in the deck. From a distance it is difficult to see whether anyone has been groomed to take his place. However, if Putin were to be dispatched, it is unlikely that any deference would be given to anyone he would have picked in any case, unless it is "Brutus". It is likely that there will be some considerable turmoil, in Russia, following this WAR. I would imagine that the population will eventually realise that they have been lied to about the military activity, murder and devastation in Ukraine. It will be interesting to see if the majority remain apolitical when all is revealed, or whether they simply continue not to care.
