  1. I agree with and support your comment. However, the one point on which you and I do not agree is that a politician needs "to be a good liar'. It is, unfortunately, a perception that is widely held. It ties in with the concepts of "loss aversion" and "prospect theory". The negatives of any situation often loom larger than equivalent and sometimes even greater positive events, pocesses and outcomes. This is why most of the propaganda concentrates on and magnifies the negatives, rather than reducing and minimising the positives. The negatives, even when equal, often carry greater weight in the minds of the intended audience.

  6. Yes, introversion may be a very good reason for taking on political office. As Jake says, a staff position may be a good start. Who knows what could happen in the future.

Many of the same people, who cry that they are poor, will spend money for milk at the gas station that they could purchase for half the price at a suppermarket {just one of numerous examples}. I also agree that the spending patterns for many people would not change if more money were to be added to their weekly or fortnightly income.
