The problem with your statement is that you are not buying the ebook. Did you not watch the video]?

Been through that myself, 'retired' IT, with family and mortgage. Won't belabor the experience, 'cept to say, the attitude is most important. And you got the right one, my friend.

@Spractral The issue is not distribution; it is in reproducibility. Physical media can be realistically copied only one at a time; ebook copies can proliferate like rabbits ... without recompense to the actual owner (the author).

Relevance of modern philosophy. Are we just searching for more ways to count angels on the head of a pin?

@klaussecruz7133 Love the sarcasm

@shankar4330 The author and the publisher gave the library permission. Ask better questions.

@klaussecruz7133 The internet was supposed to create a libertarian global village. And this is what that looks like.

@Spractral Meaningful means avoiding cute names like Louis.

@Spractral Yes, sport. I know. Do you understand now?

@BigFunnyGiant Another lawyer splitting hairs.
1
@mrwpg Foul ball. I hate trools and the denizens that want to steal IPs from creators.
1
@Sentinel82 More split hairs
1
@auntiegliz737 No. You are buying the license. Creative language cannot make pirate mean anything other than stealing.
1
@johnmurphy9385 The man was asking for topics for future videos. I provided one. Not sure what you are doing, but do it with the bath door closed. We don't want to watch.

@pseudonymos_ Terrible games don't sell. Try making objective comments.
1
@yansennunez7978 Read federal law. Stealing physical copies of books, art, etc is still stealing.
1
@lycaeonia Digital content is property. When you pirate it, you have violated the license (a civil offense) and you stole the property (a federal crime) - every see those FBI warning at the beginning of a video? Years in jail and $250,000 in criminal fines.
1
@CrizzyEyes Doesn't matter how much it costs to make, IP (intellectual property) is, by definition, property - physical or digital.
1
@ms.pirate This isn't Coke competing with Pepsi. There is no other online store that even comes close to the selection Amazon can offer. Check your Econ 101 textbook for the word 'monopoly'.
1
@BenjaminKing-h6w Pirating is stealing and has been on the books since the 16th and 17th century.
1
@CaramelCraft Start reading law books.
1
@damianchang6439 Wrong. Purchasing a book transfers ownership of that physical book; a license, which is a concept older than the digital economy, is a purchase of usage rights, not ownership. In the same manner, renting a car is a usage purchase; don't return the car and you will be arrested for grand theft. That invalidates the entire argument.

@LPempty Which comment? There are literally hundreds, and I have responded to several.
1
@LPempty ok, sport. Relish the amusement.
1
@LPempty ok sport. Try something different, like flycasting.

@SuperDeluxe80 It may not be the most common usage, sport, but it is used that way. The full saying is "purchasing a software license". As a retired IT guy responsible for purchasing software, I most profoundly affirm that is what we said, as well as the sales rep. No one was confused.
