Polly and John having a good old giggle about Russell Brand's former drug addiction. Classy.

I love these interviews with Labour MPs. But, Owen, please understand that not everyone who is critical of Corbyn is "the right". I have a fair few issues with his leadership, but it's nothing to do with his left-wing stance.

A lot of people dislike her. A lot of people dislike confident, outspoken women. A lot of people dislike people saying intelligent things with a working class accent. A lot of people also rely on social convention and the prospect of someone who will forgo politeness to pick you up on something you've done wrong is a threatening thought to them.

It was something I thought he said in this interview, but I can't find it now. Maybe I misheard. It was an inference rather than a direct statement by referring to opposing sides and the side that backed Corbyn was "the left". I possibly read too much into it because I know he personally backs Corbyn and I keep expecting his own feelings to cloud his objectivity.

Ben Martin Nandy perfectly encompasses my thoughts on Corbyn. It was really refreshing to hear. I'm fed up of getting called a Blairite when I don't join in the Corbyn worship.

She's such a dude.

She pretty much sums up my attitude to this all. I was initially a supporter of Corbyn, but not anymore. I don't think he's a good leader and I don't think the majority of the electorate do either. There's a reason 80% of his MPs have passed a vote of no confidence in him. People like Tom Watson and Ed Miliband are not "the Blairite political elite", so please spare me the conspiracy theories. I hope Owen can be open-minded on this. It's not just the media.

One problem I see in this approach is the idea of saying that truth will always trump political correctness because this promotes the idea that there is a disparity between the two. Political correctness is about creating a nomenclature for things to do with people that's as accurate as possible. The point of this is to move forward from inaccurate stereotypes, but political correctness is aspiring to be truthful. It's like saying truth with always trump science as science is also aspiring to be as truthful and accurate as possible by definition. Anything else is bad science, or bad political correctness.

I remember my girlfriend and I being on the floor in laughter at that scene because we had this rather eccentric landlord at the time who used to over-explain everything in exactly the same way.

Corbyn keeps talking about uniting the party, but it seems to only be under his terms. It's like an abusive relationship "Just admit that you were wrong and all will be forgiven". He has to accept the coalition nature of the Labour Party and let members of his cabinet have their say.

Jason Grooming My point is that I find it crass when John uses Russell's former drug addiction to mock him and then he and Polly have a little cliquey giggle about it. I agree with the sentiment that his telling people not to vote was a dangerous and foolish thing to do. I think that was born out of a place of privilege and naivety and I'm glad he has since retracted that statement. Personally, I think Polly is a little star-struck from meeting a pop-idol from her youth. Lydon has gained a reputation of late for being some sort of progressive social justice figure, but—and let's be fair here—he made a name for himself from being arrogant, rude and obnoxious. The Sex Pistols were undeniably a catalyst for a cultural paradigm shift in popular culture, but Lydon was just someone who happened to be there at the time, screaming into the mic. …I digress slightly. Apologies. My point is that I doubt Polly would have echoed that sentiment on a forum like Question Time. And if she did, I think she would have been heavily criticised. Drug addiction is a serious, crippling and much misunderstood affliction. Lydon's statement and Polly's support are not helping the issue.

I'm reading her book at the moment. It's very insightful.

Because Morgan Freeman is such a voice of wisdom?

Actually, they can't. Racism is about prejudice exercised through a power structure.

Mark Hypothetically, if a white person were to be killed by a Black person and that Black person’s motive was skin colour, it would be an act of prejudice, it would be murder, but it wouldn’t be racism in the way we understand it on a systemic level.

Jesus. Privilege tantrum much, Pie? “People keep calling me a misogynist”. I wonder if he’s considered the possibility that that’s because it’s true rather than a political-correctness-gone-mad conspiracy against free speech.

This is not in any way the same thing. One is about following a beauty trend, the other is about hating one’s own ethnicity.
