To be fair, you could do a top 10 just for Buffy.

Jesus Christ, WatchMojo! What's next? Top ten rapes? Top ten paedophiles? These kids aren't "evil", there's no such thing. They're just really messed up. I don't understand how people can ascribe adult-like qualities onto 10-year-old kids. These cases are just really sad, nothing more. Sad for the victims and their families, sad that something has driven a child to kill. I like your light-hearted top tens. Please don't turn these awful situations into entertainment.

Kaiser Kailer Absolutely. Dawn's appearance alone has several: Faith making the bed for "Little Miss Muffet" … Buffy's dream where Tara tells her to "be back before dawn". …

I love The Babadook. It's a metaphor for the mum's grief and depression though, not a figment of the boy's imagination. Depression has killed lots of people.

They could get sued for copyright infringement if they played any more of the track than was absolutely necessary to demonstrate their point (which would be ironic).

I'm pretty open to people liking whatever they like, but the White Stripes cover is nowhere near as brilliant as the original. That guitar riff is amazing. Have you heard it played at 33RPM? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMrfM711vXI

Olivia Colman.

Not my personal list, but very close. Top Gear is divisive. A lot of people really hate the right-wing attitudes, racism, climate change denial (just all the things that would Donald Trump proud), but it is very popular so probably deserves to be there. Putting it above Sherlock is a twist of the knife, though.

Never any women in these Watch Mojo lists.

She killed people though.

Well, there's a bit of a mix of opinion here. It is certainly true that Hollywood is racist and sexist when it comes to casting — google the Bechdel Test if you don't believe me. But I don't think it has anything to do with casting people from other countries to play Americans. I can think of very many Black actors from here in the UK that have found themselves playing Americans over in the states. Maybe it's more obvious to me because I know who these people are from seeing them previously in British stuff. They pop up all the time when I'm watching US shows — from David Harewood in Homeland to Lennie James in The Walking Dead to Daniel Kaluuya in Get Out to Chiwetel Ejiofor in 12 Years a Slave to Idris Elba in … well… everything (just off the top of my head). But there is massive racism in Hollywood casting. The problem is systemic, not because of foreigners taking American jobs.

Last Exit to Springfield was always my favourite. I thought it was a random one that no-one else gave too much thought too. I'm surprised (and pleased) to see it at number 1.

+Woder The Great I've been a massive Doctor Who fan since I was a kid (watching what is now described as the 'classic' series). I live it and breathe it. But yes, you're right. Sherlock is better.

Skinner Sweet No, it's a movie about depression and learning how to manage it.

I think maybe you're interpreting the narrative in a too literal sense. It's not meant to be about a "strong female". Where did gender as a subject come into it? If we're talking about feminist tropes in cinema, the "strong female" one is tired and sexist. It's like a kind fake feminism. I found the film to be feministic as the character was deep and complex. That's what's lacking in the film world. "Strong" women can too easily become a shallow series of semiotics, personified on screen. The mum isn't meant to be perfect, she is battling a crippling condition. The film is about how she learns to live with it — "you can't get rid of the Babadook".
1
Fire Marshall Bill No, it can't. Ghosts and monsters aren't real. It's a film. The Babadook is a metaphor.

Skinner Sweet Have I misunderstood something here? Yes, it does seem like an obvious point, but you are discussing the plot of this film as though it's a series of real events (or at least events that are bound by the laws of the real world). It's a piece of art. Concept can take anthropomorphic form within a film.

Good call on Street Fighter 2, but Sonic 2 is worth more than just an honourable mention.

+Neil Wood What is Peaky Blinders? I think people probably need to have heard of the shows in this list at least. They're all pretty iconic.

I think Adele's cover of Dylan's Me you feel my love is pretty good

I hate all these legal battles. Are artists really put out-of-pocket by another artist having a similar melody in their song? This is the antithesis of everything that art should be in my opinion.

I’m a big Weezer fan and I love Beverly Hills. I didn’t even know people had a problem with it. :-(
