I disagree. I think this in an emotional reaction, and it comes from a place of wanting someone to face hurt in their life because you feel angry. The people inciting violence against marginalised group — families, children, innocent business owners and residents — DO pose a danger to society, and there needs to be a clear message sent of zero tolerance towards this stuff. People get killed because of this kind of thing, and it's too easy for people to do, not to mention how divorced from reality and anonymous it feels to post things online.
Huw Edwards, on the other hand, is not a typical case. Despite how angry his crimes make people feel, he's already lost everything he built up in his life and I'm not sure prison would serve any further benefit. Imagine going from being famous and respected to suddenly everyone hating you — literally everyone. He can never go out in public again. He's famous. There's no chance he could be in a position to abuse his power again because he has none.
The judge will be privy to move information than anyone here has, and I'm sure they will have made the right call.
