I have a question: I worked for a year in a shop. After about 11 months, I was called into the HR office and told that they had made an error with my pay and had been paying me too much. They then told me that I had to work my final month there for free to pay them back. This was particularly difficult for me as I’d been working to save up to do a postgraduate degree and ended up effectively having wasted the year. Was that legal?
