  1. Fitzroy founded the Met Office in UK. Now an International Strateigic Meterlogical Office. He is also commemerated in the Sea Area Fitzroy off the Western Approaches. He is supposed to have committed suicide in 1865, because his weather forecasts failed to prevent ships sinking. I also live about 5 miles from Downe House.
