  1. Under law they can be classed as pests. They are not Wild, horses are a re-introduction to the america's. They are descendant of escaped domestic animals , so classed as Feral.

  4. Strangles is a bacterial infection causing swelling of the lymph nodes. Including in the throat. Even if an animal recovers they are likly to suffer life long respiratory problems. It can be spread by cysts dropping from sub clinical animals onto the ground. First actions on suspecting an animal with Strangles, Isolate.

  5. then at least do a clean cull. One horse one bullet. Not packed to die a slow miserable death from Strangles, and belive me it is. I've treated horses with strangles. No animal fully recovers, there is always some lung damage.

  7. At least in UK if the animal dies of an infectious disease then the carccas must be incinerated. If a cull is needed then at least do it cleanly.
