  1. Very true. You could have bought that Land Rover a few years back for £200. I know I have enough of them. Now even in that sate a couple of thousnad pounds. The very early Series 1 , I bought my first one twenty years or so ago for £150, now one went, on a TV show at auction for £38,000!

  2. The Landy is probably a 2a from 1964 through till 1970. At that point legislation changed so the lights had to be the width of the vehicle, hence they went outside. Could have a been a six cylinder one,

The style of Prefect in UK is known as as a Sit Up and Beg, due the the sweep of the front wings looking like a dog with its paws by it's face begging. 1100 cc was was the choice of engine size as Petrol (gas ) rationing post WW2 was in force till well into the 1950's and Vehicle Road Tax was on engine size. Economy counts in Europe. The Land Rover si a 12 seat Series 2 or more probably 2a Safari Staion Wagon, and yes the rear plate will have Station Wagon on it. The Safari Roof works with 4 manual vents in the roof, the idea is air is forced under and into the vehicle. It could have had a straight 6 engine in it , but more likley a 4 cylinder engine.
