@pohakumana Yes I used to jump from height into water. Trouble is the ground dosen't have the same tendency to give and absorb the impact over time.
20
that beast is rated at 10 meters , about 30 feet. High enough.
13
Better still , get trained before you go near one! I don't fancy trying to work the ground controls in that case though.
7
Been nicer still if he'd bother to follow the saftey rules on the machine in the first place.
4
As someone who now instructs on Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWP) , AKA that cherry picker. They are very safe and the most widley used way of working at height. IF you are properly trained. There are warnings all over the machines about power lines
4
You go do it then. My advice before you satart using MEWPS get trained. You will then learn how wrong you are,
3
@ThatADHDKid Work at height is defined as any distance from which a fall could cause personal injury. Fall off a table it hurt.
3
With an unkown amount of electricity about would have been bloody spectacular.
3
@RoseteMonik Absolutley correct ! Why fry for a muppet?
2
Unfortunatley any Private Muppet can hire one.
2
IO hope he gets charged with Reckless endagermanet of life and jit with replacment bill, It's in the contract if he even bothere dto read it . Obviously took no notice of the warning lables on the machine.
2
You signed the contract, you misused it , you pay for it!
2
@kathleenrobertpogue6818 try gettiing hubby to cut the pipe so oil sprays out under pressure , then flick a flame.
2
@gatsbylight4766 She is right, except! the oil spraying out under pressure would ignite if there was a scource of ignition , like a few thousand volts of electricity. What should happen is that in case of a blown pipe, the machine will lower a few feet , then check valves will lock it off. Until the ground man operates the emergency descent controls . I train people to use them, so I do know what I am talking about.
2
@kathleenrobertpogue6818 Im qualified to train on MEWPs, you think you know. I know I know..
2
And heart sizure when he gets the bill. You rent it , read the small print. You bracke it , you buy it. About $90 to 100,000
2
Ooh , well , a few thousand volts of electricty down a metal casin, thats full of hydraulic oil might just have something to do with it.
2
One giant pice of stupidity. The manufacturer takes a lot of time sticking warning notices over the machines, for a reason.
2
Unfortunatley OSHA, what , another one?
2
@pohakumana No they aren't. Give electricity a path to ground, ie a large steel ,. MEWP, full of hydraulic oil, and the result is now on film.
2
With an unkown amount of electricity about? After you.
2
Gravity : Nope!
2
@aardque Even the power company would come and physically check. There are some sobering vids on power line saftey on youtube, worth watching, even if it's just a tree has come down outside your house and hit a line.
2
@painterken2542 First , how do you know if the power line is dead? Second , yes there are ground controls, assuming the muppet had left the key in the right place, that is in the ground controls. And someone knows how to use them. Third: When the power goes out on a boom like that the manual lowering procedure involves a lot of hand pumping from ground level. not recommend when A the machine might have a thousand or so volts going through it B its on fire.
1
@painterken2542 the key is placed 'Where the manufactuere's manual states it should be placed during operations'. Not all machines are the same.
1
Wait till he gets the bill ! Its in the contarct, you breack it you pay for it. Around the $90 to 100, 000 mark
1
@damnjustassignmeone Yes it is easy , being properly trained on MEWPS , that is the reaction . What a *&^^%%% moron! Put everyone else at risk
1
Its a MEWP Mobile Boom type 3b if you want to be exact,
1
Not when upteen thousand volts are about. Why fry for a moron?
1
@stuzworldz Because anyone using the extingusher would by fried by the shorting power. Why die for a moron who won't bother to look at all the bright shiny warning lables on the machine?
1
@robertwilliams5015 Nope but how many thousand volts still going through the power lines the muppet hot in the first place?
1
Heres a better idea, don't assume that umpteen thousand volts are not cousrsing through the kit.
1
Electricty could still be live umpteen thousand volts + water = an even worse day.
1
Nope ! Thier not stupid. In the small print, you brack it you buy it. $90 to 100,000
1
Feel sorry for the people he put in danger because of his stupidity.
1
Work at Height: Any distance from which a fall could cause injury. That thing is about 30 feet of the ground. That qualifies.
1
A lot of voltage + Hydraulic oil used to move things
1
@MrDXRamirez Hopefullly a sensible one.
1
How do you know the power lines are stilll not live? Add water is not a good way to find out.
1
@pohakumana There is a phenomon caled ARC. You don't have to go all the ways to the line ,. The electricity will come to you.
