I can add some thoughts, I think Western liberals deliberately ignore a country's national freedom, diplomatic autonomy, that is, independence, the best case is the liberal and democratic Taiwan, Taiwan's three political party candidates need to go to Washington, D.C. before the election to get diplomatic support, if Tsai Ing-wen is elected by the Taiwanese, then Tsai Ing-wen listens to the Taiwan people, or listens to the United States? Especially in the controversy over the import of American ractopamine food, the KMT accepted ractopamine beef, while the DPP accepted ractopamine pork, but the Taiwan public opinion is very clear against any ractopamine food, so is the Taiwan president serving the locals Taiwanese? If the president of a country is not free, will the people he rules be free?

I'm honest Chinese and I used to be very liberal when in my 20s but I support CCP, not because I support pure communism even I'm pretty against it, actually most Chinese nationalists aka Little Pink even including CCP top members don't want communism in China today, I barely heard the word communism on CCP mouthpiece newspaper or any TV show, but I only see more and more nationalistic propaganda on TV and movie, it looked like CCP's ideology became more right-wing nationalism but much less leftist, the only leftist element is many state-owned company and Xi's Poverty alleviation program, labor rights like 996 issue and welfare system made China like capitalism dictatorship regime.
but I know when CCP was born against KMT, CCP's ideology was against so-called Three mountains: imperialism, feudalism, and bureaucratic capitalism, why CCP rose up against ROC regime? because Chiang Kai-shek purged left-wing KMT members and CCP in Shanghai Massacre 1927, that's why CCP wanted to overthrow that corrupt, ring-wing facist dictatorship Kuomingtang comprador regime backed by brutal landlord and Western imperialist, because KMT only served interests for the 1% rich landlord and foreign company not 99% Chinese peasants, that's why Mao Zedong wanted to accomplish so-called proletarian revolution's New Democracy Revolution in 1927 against KMT's bourgeois revolution's Old Democracy Revolution in 1911.
CCP was very much ideologic and internationalist somewhat anti - nationalism even anti-Chinese culture(old feudalism) because communist wanted to build a world without government, border, class even nation at first place, CCP even supported Soviet invaded Xinjiang and Manchuria also supported Mongolia independence from ROC, because it's Soviet's liberation from CCP's point of view in 1930s, CCP used to put communist ideology above ROC sovereignty when it can hurt KMT, it's only after CCP won civil war then CCP became more nationalism, today CCP behaves like they forgot they used to be very communism but only focus on nationalism now, then we should know today CCP is just normal nationalistic party like in other authoritarian countries, ironically CCP is copying that old ideology from KMT: right-wing, dictatorship, capitalism.
but why most Chinese still support CCP? why Chinese people kicked off right-wing dictatorship KMT to Taiwan in 1949, but can accept ring-wing KMT style dictatorship CCP now? because Mao's economic policy was huge tragedy for Chinese.
Chinese nationalists have very complex thoughts on Mao, Yes he reunited China from warlords, he gave land to poor farmers, he built up China's industrial base, he even defeat US India Soviet aggresion on border and washed away Century of National Humiliation, it's Mao made Chinese stood up against any foreign invaders, finally China never lost wars because of Mao after endless invasion from West Russia Japan, but Mao is totalitarianism and upgraded cult of personality up to heaven, he was more iron-fist than Stalin but little less than Pol Pot from Chinese liberals' prospective, his tough attitude against both Western capitalism and Soviet imperialism just gave Chinese economy darkest time, because both capitalism world and socialism world sanctioned and blocked China in 1960s after Korean War and Sino-Soviet Split, millions of Chinese people so-called rightists got persecuted or suicided, millions of millions of poor people died due to his radical and unscientific industrialization, China was even poorer than all African countries in 1980.
finally Deng Xiaoping took power and gave up Mao's far-left economic policies also turning pro-USA anti-Soviet, Yes Maoism is even more leftist than Soviet, but Deng is smart that he knew Mao founding father of PRC and PLA, so Deng didn't denounce Mao very much like Khrushchev denounced Stalin, Deng gave Mao a review: 70% correct 30% wrong, most Chinese know and accept why Deng didn't totally denounce Mao, today CCP still didn't want to change party name because CCP still want to keep her legacy in past, Chinese love Deng even kinda forgive Deng's Tiananmen's massacre, well if Deng didn't crack down that Color Revolution/Regime Change/Bourgeois Liberalization Revolution, then China will be like poorer Russia.
anyway, Chinese want tough government against foreign invaders, not kowtow to any superpowers, but Chinese also hate Maoism economic policy, so if CCP can still remain same Marxist–Leninist polity, increase independent but peaceful foreign policy, also more liberal economic policy, why Chinese would hate CCP? it's actually a copy of a tough KMT, you know why KMT lost support from Chinese, not only because KMT is too corrupt, but also KMT didn't fight well against Japan and Soviet, too obedient to USA.
today CCP is not embracing pure communism, today there's no countries really embrace or even try to accomplish real communism, even Soviet as socialist state failed to really accomplish pure communism, today China Vietnam Laos Cambodia even North Korea are not communist, they may call themselves as socialist with market economy so it's not pure communism, from America standard then they are socialist political systerm with capitalistic economy policy, or just capitalistic dictatorship, so when I heard people said they hate China because China is communist, well either they don't really know what China is today, or they just hate China for other reason, like these people don't hate communist Vietnam now, why only hate communist China? because China is too powerful but Vietnam is too small, Chinese know why most rightist Nixon embraced most leftist Mao due to Soviet, so it's no surprise USA now supports Vietnam today.
Chinese people support CCP's good governance not communist ideology, Chinese people don't care about government's ideology communism or capitalism, liberalism or authoritarianism, black cat or white cat, as long as the government can make people rich and safe, country as strong and respected, why should Chinese hate today's CCP? would Africans hate a dictator if he can unify African Union also make Africa's purchase power more than Europe? then it's a good dictator.
Little Pink is like MAGA, people just love nationalism, populism and economic growth, that's why people support strong man leadership, even Trump behaves like dictator.
Chinese has different priority, Asian culture would put harmony, stability, wealth before freedom, especially Chinese suffered too long time wars and chaos when central government was weak and stupid, as long as CCP doesn't kowtow to any foreign power also deliver economic growth, why against it? China got 10% annual GDP growth for 30 years as 1 billion size population, even American Gilded age is only 5%, what party can do better and replace CCP? Chinese don't want gambling for future.
Westerners used to label liberal democracy regime as legitimate government, like once you are liberal democracy then you are legitimate, even your government is corrupt, weak, you got even poorer but it's still legitimate? why governance should only has one standard: liberal democracy? or elected government means democracy?
China got selection and election layer by layer, it's like huge company Walmart's human resources to choose who can run this company, you can't get promotion by talking nicely, you can only get promoted based on your past contribution, if your department can't bring profit to company then your talk or promise is useless,
CCP really has burden on back after he saw Soviet collapsed, because CCP knew the world really believe in liberal democracy is only way to decide a government is good or not, Chinese people may also embrace liberal democracy and let CCP to step down one day, that's why CCP felt very nervous and run this country carefully, as long as CCP keeps delivering economic benefits to Chinese people then CCP can have support from people, that's also why CCP feels very restraint to use military method to solve issues in last 40 years, because CCP has full control of China then CCP has full responsibility, CCP can't blame ruling party for mistake.
ironically the Four Little Asian Dragons, HK Taiwan Singapore S.Korea, when they got rapid economy growth when they didn't have any democracy, their people work very hard and oppressed labor rights, it's when they finished industrial upgrade then embraced more liberal rights, if China is big dragon maybe China would walk same way like Taiwan, it's when Taiwan got rich then KMT gave more political freedom to Taiwanese, China hasn't get there yet.
I hate CCP only not Chinese people? well, when USA sanctioned Syria it's only Assad suffered much? nope, West sanctioned whoever in Syria because West wanted to use let Syrian people to get starved to rebel, it's against civilians.

It's not 30% vs 10%, it's pure propaganda.
now it's U.S. against China 10% basis + 20% fentanyl tarrif
now China against U.S. 10% basis + (15% tariffs on coal, liquefied natural gas; 10% tariffs on crude oil, agricultural machinery, large-displacement automobiles, pickup trucks ) + (tariffs on certain imports originating in the U.S. 15% tariffs on chicken, wheat, corn, cotton; 10% tariffs on sorghum, soybeans, pork, beef, aquatic products, fruits, vegetables, dairy products)
So the U.S. and China just went back to tarrif before April, but China didn't give up its rare earth restrictions since April.

but Houthi is Iran's proxy against Saudi Arabia, Shia Houthi's ideology is anti-Sunni but also very anti-USA, anti-Semitism, so how can USA support Houthi before USA can't get along with Iran?
but interestingly Trump put Houthi in terrorist list then Biden removed it, so maybe you are right that USA may would support Houthi to keep pressure on Saudi Arabia.
I think CIA would encourage other opposition members in Saudi royal family to assassinate or overthrow Mohammed bin Salman, because there's military bases in Saudi Arabia,
it means childish MBS may not gain full control of Saudi military, actually Saudi Arabia is pretty pro-Trump so I think Saudi Arabia would get along with USA as long as Republicans took power,
also when the world saw how West just freezed all Russian nationals assets then those non-Western countries, pro-USA non-democratic regimes may worry what if USA would find excuse to punish them if they don't 100% obey USA's order, they choose China not only also for oil trade also because 'don't put all your eggs in one basket'.

The United States is becoming a communist economy! Trump is not fighting against Xi Jinping, but Hayek.
Trump and MAGA supporters are both right-wingers, and they are very anti-communist, but why do I say this? Starting from China's historical lessons, the Chinese will certainly blame the West, Russia, and Japan for their colonization of the Qing Dynasty, invasion of the Republic of China during the Century Of Humiliation, and even containment of the People's Republic of China during the Cold War, but the Chinese will also often reflect on themselves. Is this really just the fault of external enemies? Haven't the Chinese made any mistakes themselves? Why have the Chinese become so ignorant, backward, and weak? Imperialism can defeat China naturally because its technology is more advanced, but what makes China's technology lag behind? Didn't the Chinese Four Great Inventions put China in a leading position in technology before? Without papermaking and printing, there would be no European religious reform, without the compass, there would be no European great voyages and geographical discoveries, without gunpowder, there would be no European colonial wars, but when did Europe surpass Chinese technology?
Chinese intellectuals gradually reached a consensus, it is because Qing Empire adopted a policy of isolation. Matteo Ricci 1552 – 1610, an Italian missionary in the late Ming Dynasty, brought prisms, geometry, and world maps to Emperor Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty, Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty had long been exposed to the advanced industrial revolution in Europe. German missionary Adam Schall 1591 – 1666 helped the early Qing Dynasty rebuild the calendar and cast cannons. However, the Chinese emperor at that time only regarded these advanced instruments and technologies as "strange skills" and a kind of entertainment within the palace, and did not spread them to the people, because the emperor was worried that religious culture and even technology from the West would challenge his imperial power and Confucian ideology, especially since the Qing Dynasty was ruled by the Manchus, and they needed a policy of keeping the people ignorant. Otherwise, once the Han people were civilized and received advanced education, they might oppose the Manchu rule.
After 1840, the Qing Dynasty lost two Opium Wars. At that time, the Chinese thought it was because the white people were too advanced militarily. Therefore, the Qing Dynasty began to implement the "Westernization Movement" in 1860. The Qing Dynasty tried to learn more advanced technology from Europe, and the Qing Dynasty even lost the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895. This war completely awakened the Qing Dynasty intellectuals. How could Japan, a thousand-year-old apprentice, easily defeat the teacher? Oh, because Japan's Meiji Restoration not only allowed Japan to accept Western technology, but also European culture and system. This set of ideas led to the "Hundred Days' Reform" of Emperor Guangxu in the late Qing Dynasty, but it still failed. Then the Boxer Rebellion led to the invasion of China by the Eight-Nation Alliance. Since then, the revolutionary party represented by Sun Yat-sen was determined to completely overthrow the monarchy and embrace the Western republican system.
But soon the Republic of China fell into a warlord melee. It seemed that the democratic republican system did not make China united and prosperous. Then the Chinese began to look for other ways out. The Chinese began to find that the sudden rise of the Soviet Union might be a way. Then Sun Yat-sen introduced communist with Kuomingtang to start the Northern Expedition to eliminate the warlord government in Beijing. Soon the Kuomintang and the CCP began to split because of the extreme left and extreme right ideologies, leading to the Great Purge in 1927 and civil war. Later, Japan invaded China and united the Kuomintang and the CCP. In the end, the KMT and the CCP defeated Japanese fascism in 1945. The CCP defeated the Kuomintang and established the People's Republic of China in 1949. But at this time the world immediately fell into the Cold War again. The United States began to establish an anti-communist bamboo curtain to encircle the PRC. Finally, for the first time after a century of national humiliation, the Chinese militarily defeated the most powerful United Nations forces led by Americans, but this was only a rare military victory for China. After the Korean War broke out, the PRC got sanctioned by the capitalist camp led by the United States, Mao Zedong later began to learn the Stalin model in an all-round way. He was extremely totalitarian in politics. Because Mao Zedong did not obey to Soviet big brother, he was isolated by the Soviet Union in socialist camp since 1959. Then Mao Zedong began radical industrialization out of pride. Economically, it was a planned economy that was more extreme left than Khrushchev's, but it caused the worst famine in human history. Then Mao Zedong started the Cultural Revolution, which was even crazier and more extreme left, boycotting all the technology, industrial products, and culture of the US imperialists and Soviet revisionists. Even after Mao Zedong shook hands with Nixon, Mao Zedong became pro-US and anti-Soviet in geopolitics, but he was still extremely anti-capitalist in economics, which led to China's per capita GDP being poorer than any African country before 1980. On the one hand, it was because of the simultaneous sanctions by the US and the Soviet Union from 1960 to 1980, and on the other hand, it was naturally because of the extreme left economic policy, because Cuba, which is also subject to sanctions, is not as poor and backward as China..
It was not until Deng Xiaoping came to power that he admitted that the closed-door policy, totalitarian system and extreme left economic policy of the Mao era had failed, Communism does not mean planned economy, communism does not mean poverty and backwardness, socialism can also have some market economy. In particular, after visiting Japan and Singapore, Deng Xiaoping was shocked to find that Singapore, as a young country established by Chinese descendants, did not completely adopt the Western democratic system but was very developed. Deng Xiaoping stopped in Singapore when he went to France to study communism in 1920. He remembered that Singapore was still a poor and backward fishing village at that time. Lee Kuan Yew told Deng Xiaoping that foreign investment was not necessarily to exploit local labors. Foreign investment could also bring advanced technology, management and employment. Then in 1978, Deng Xiaoping began to relax economic controls. In 1979, Deng Xiaoping intervened in the Third Indochina War and the Soviet-Afghan War to contain the Soviet Union. Then Americans lifted sanction and the capitalist camp began to invest in China, and then China experienced an explosive growth of 9.5% annual GDP growth rate for 40 years.
Chinese people look back on the painful, backward and poor history of the past 200 years, knowing that the isolation of the Qing Dynasty led to their ignorance and that rejecting the market economy would lead to their lack of competitiveness. Therefore, in the 40 years since the reform and opening up, Chinese people have worked hard to learn, imitate and copy the advanced technology and experience of any country in Europe, America, Japan and even Taiwan. They do not think that this is an act that hurts national self-esteem. Chinese people will introduce brands from any country to set up factories, allowing foreign capital to earn huge profits to exploit China's sweatshops. The CCP has never thought of driving away foreign capital for any reason. In 2012, anti-Japanese protest broke out due to the sovereignty dispute over the Diaoyu Islands. Some populist protesters smashed and burned Toyota stores. Since then, the CCP has even banned such nationalist demonstrations protesting against foreign countries.
After 40 years of swimming in the ocean of the US-led neoliberalism order, the Chinese people have almost drowned many times especially in 1990s and 2008. However, only when the world's top players compete on the stage of the Olympics can China's industrial economy be competitive. In the end, China has gradually improved the competitiveness of its industrial products. In contrast, Indians always say that they are democratic and open, but they are afraid to join RCEP. Indians strongly resist Chinese products, and Trump uses administrative means to pressure other countries to accept uncompetitive American products. American automobile companies do not rely on improving their own competitiveness to enter the Japanese market, but rely on the US government to force the Japanese to buy American cars. Will this be an effective economic policy? These are things that the Chinese are not willing to do, because what the Chinese fear most is ignorance, stupidity, and arrogant isolation. Many Western media say that Xi Jinping is little Mao. Maybe Xi Jinping's power is more centralized, but his economic policies are not extreme left and conservative at all. However, Xi Jinping introduced Tesla in 2018, when the trade war was at its peak, and gave it wholly-owned ownership to Elon Musk not joint venture. The United States has sanctioned hundreds of Chinese technology companies, and more and more Chinese companies are unable to make money in the US market, but Xi Jinping still insists on opening up to the outside world, inviting CEOs from various countries to meet and inviting more countries to participate in the Import Expo. So I would say that Trump is more communist than Xi Jinping, and Trump is not fighting against the communists, but the liberal Hayek.
And China has learned from history that it can only be competitive if it opens up to the world.
