@vihailevagi USA won every battle against Vietcong but still lost Vietnam War, because USA's goal was to set up a pro-US outpost in Vietnam for containing China not only containing North Vietnam, if American economy collapsed then Soviet won Cold War even Vietnam became hell, it's same like Soviet also won every battle against Afghans but Soviet collapsed, if Soviet ended then what's the point of killing more Afghans? Soviet's rival is USA not Afghanistan.

@vihailevagi when you talk about losing you only mean military losing? well, I'm talking about strategic losing, politicians also only care about strategic victory, USA wanted to contain China, to stop communism spreading into Indochina, to stop all Indochina countries to turn pro-China pro-Soviet, that's USA's strategic goal. so USA wanted to maintain an outpost in South Vietnam, to keep South Vietnam alive, USA failed to keep that goal, all the money USA spent for 30 years in vain, it's not loss but victory? like NATO killed 10 times more Afghans, but NATO still retreated from Afghanistan, would you say it's a victory? Germany killed more Soviets so Germany is winner? you don't even know what caused anti-war protest, it's inflation, bad economy caused riot, rights movement in 1960s, so you tell me what caused Soviet collapse? it's also Soviet put too much money in Afghanistan, even Soviet killed 1 million Afghans, even only 15k Soviets died, it's still big military win for Soviet but who cares if Soviet died?

@ryanmacdonnell8987 because Eastern Europe got brainwashed by American propaganda, Eastern Europe got more brutally ruled by Nazi Germany, if Eastern Europe doesn't hate Germany-led EU anymore because Germany changed and became good guy now, then why it's logical to hate Russia even Russia abandoned commmunism also embraced Western systetm? ask yourself if you are Russian and you give up Eastern Europe and let them get independence peacefully, but they still join US side to contain you, would you regret that naive decision? by your logic, why Cuba can't have Soviet military bases today? because USA invaded Cuba even USA has been sanctioning Cuba for 60 years, what if Cuba invites Russian troops again?
