EU is the only reason China doesn't arm Russia, China already gives up on US but still doesn't give up hope on EU, because Hungary is first to stay neutral but Hungary is not that powerful, now France is second to refuse to be anti-Chinese, maybe Spain and Italy would follow France step too. but once EU also sanctions China, then China would see EU as strong friend of enemy, China will arm Russia to weaken EU.

Hi I'm from China and I don't agree your misunderstanding, we got independent not from 1980s, because we said No to Soviet military control, just like Yugoslavia refused to be Eastern European satellite states caused Tito-Stalin Split, so it caused Sino-Soviet split and Soviet withdrew all technicians since 1959, Soviet then got angry then Soviet supported India Uyghurs and Vietnam in proxy wars to contain China, then we attacked India, oppressed Uyghurs rebels, even attacked Soviet in 1969, that's how we got full independence from big bro, that's why we are 10 times GDP bigger than Russia today, because Russia can't put a ceiling on us, why Japan can't? because Japan destroyed own chip industry to please USA in 1980s, you know Toshiba? we got sanctioned by both capitalism world and socialism world after Korean War and Sino-Soviet split, 1953~1979, you know freedom is expensive? but thanks for those didn't kill me only made me more independent. I don't mean EU should attack US to get independence, it's too extreme for you and I don't think your democracy can bear heavy and long cost. but if EU can't build EU army as Macron tried, then EU can't have independent political decision, then EU can't have independent intelligence, then EU can't have higher technology than USA, remember how USA stole French Alstom? US doesn't like rivals, if China collapsed then EU India will be next.

  11.  @matteskew  typical western mindset, so why Japan invested in real estate and stock so much? because USA waged trade war and tech war, so Japanese don't invest tech company if Japan government didn't protect own Toshiba chip industry, finally US waged financial war on Japan when Japan showed weakness, it's USA kept slowing down and attacking Japan since 1970s until 1990s, when Japan's innovation, industrial upgrade and healthy growth stopped and problems burst out, then USA stopped to containing Japan. if China can rise because CCP embraced some free market? so why democratic India, capitalist Africa, or free Latin America can't? they are not capitalist? because CCP attacked pro-Soviet Vietnam, that's why capitalism lifted sanction on China, then hardworking Chinese just walk a same way like how Taiwan, Singapore, S.Korea economy got fastest growth under dictatorship.

  12.  orangecounty  when Taiwan Navy and air force was better, Taiwan blocked Chinese coast for 30 years 1949~1980, Taiwan even acted like pirate and seized any commercial ships to Shanghai no matter it's from Soviet or West, when China Navy is catching up, then Taiwan gave up hope to Retake Mainland and Liverate Compatriots, then Taiwan separatist movement increased, KMT can't oppress separatist anymore when Taiwanese wanted liberal democracy, then DPP won election in 2000. but from China point of view, Taiwan Navy was strong so Taiwan bullied Mainland, but Taiwan Navy became weak then claimed it's wrong to unify Taiwan? nope.

  20. when you visit China, you don't be anti-USA or contain USA, you can just stay neutral, you still get FTA from 1.4b market, or best infrastructure, China acts like leader of globalization, free market and peace. when you visit USA, if you are not joining anti-Chinese containment, then you are anti-USA, if you join US side against China, then you get one more brand new military base, and you need move industry to USA.
