@JustAnotherJarhead Both PRC and ROC only claim the islands within the 9/11-dash line, not the entire South China Sea. the United States and the Soviet Union agreed to let the ROC took over and fill the void after the Japanese withdrew from the islands. So why did the United States and the Soviet Union fight in World War II? Then let the Chinese occupy it? Because the Chinese sacrificed more than the ASEAN and killed more Japanese than the ASEAN. Just like today Greece controls 95% of the islands in the Aegean Sea while Turkey only controls 5%. Why? Because Greece was the winner side in the First Balkan War, World War I, and World War II.

Don't feel sad too much, West failed to contain CCP in Chinese Civil War, First Indochina War, Korean War and Vietnam War, but Soviet also failed to encircle China in Sino-Indian War, Sino-Soviet War, Third Indochina War, Soviet-Afghan War, at least USA didn't collapse like Soviet.
