Macau is very small, Macau doesn't really have much supermacy against Chines mainlanders, Portugal has no international influence like UK. Portuguese Macau government apologized for cracking down anti-Portugal riot in 1966(12-3 incident) but British HK cracked down anti-UK leftwing riot harshly, so pro-CCP leftwing took political control of Macau, but pro-UK rightwing hasn't lost political control of HK until today, then Portuguese lost confidence to govern Macau anymore so Macau was poor and violent city before handover, but British started to govern HK sincerely with iron fist until handover, today Macau GDP per capita 82,613usd, rises up 6 times after handover, it's 2 times more than HK, Macau Basic Law doesn't promise universal suffrage like HK did, Macau government gives Macau people public housing and patriotism education, pro-Beijing controls Macau's media, school and court not like HK, Macau accepts national security laws so there will be no anti-China or independence movement in Macau, Macau GDP depends on tourism and casino from Chinese mainlanders, would Vegas go against Americans? Macau and HK is a coin of different sides.
