@josephsmith594 deterring people from using cars too much. Hop on the subway and when there are insane people, just gang up against them. 😂

@Cutlerypotato <=== poor out of towner with nothing to do but come to Toronto and it’s discussion channel to babble about things irrelevant to him. Of course some broke people have too much time in their hands. Block them and ignore them and don’t give them the free thrill they look for. 😆

@Cutlerypotato there are way more properties and much bigger tax base. That’s how we keep property taxes low in Toronto but hey.. we are subsidizing everyone who travels here to enjoy our amenities.

@josephsmith594 you don’t read the post carefully and are probably a country boy who’s never lived in big town. He said “like London, driving into Central part of the city should cost an extra fee which serves as deterrence for too many cars in the central part of the city not entering the city.” Again you’re nearsighted. Many come ride the TTC (as you did); use the park (too many of them travel into my hood’s park as I’m by the subway line;) use cheap or free parking; use our road and trails for free and never spends a dime. Look most of the patrons enjoying the parks we pay for, for decades. I travel to other hoods to avoid them. Nothing we can do about it as the doors are open on all borders into Toronto. We pay we pay we pay and they pollute. What shall we do?

@Carolinapetroska TTC is subsidized by governments. You sound like you contribute but in fact a taker.

@josephsmith594 right! How much property tax did you pay while living by U of T? This is the most expensive city in Canada and we keep subsidizing the rest of the world. We are allowed to say this as Toronto produces 20% of Canada’s GDP. You think TTC is expensive? It’s mostly paid by Toronto, Ontario and Ottawa! Btw, the government paid for most of your education at U of T, excluding OSAP! You people want everything for free and completely disregard what we have to do to pay for it. Yes they came all the way from far far far.. and hop into my neighborhood’s pool for free. We pay for that and they create chaos in here. Now the police needs to patrol more. That’s costing taxpayers money as well. The rest of the world’s big city has toll and usage fees. We should definitely do it so that people will take transit to stop the pollution.

@Cutlerypotato just block the out of towners from using it for free. Show resident card when they come here. 😂

@josephsmith594 you read too much sci fi! Rosedale and st Clair west are popular subway stops and the riders live in mansions! Everyone rides TTC in Toronto and only you complain it’s expensive after we fork it up for you. How much is property taxes contribution of student housing? What year was it? If it’s anything after 2015, there’s no cap rate for landlord. We have been subsidizing our tenants since. All we had was looking forward to more equity so that we can take on more debt but that’s dead, due to rising interest rate. Further OSAP is interest free till 6 months after you graduate. Tuition fees hardly cover expenses at university. Taxpayers pay you to get educated. Clearly you want things for free but you can’t afford Toronto so you move to 905 then try to convince our city council to make it more expensive for us. Nice try!! The news is.. they survey local residents, the voters, not Internet babbler. Good luck! Come enjoy the free thrills but stop telling us what to do as we DO NOT CARE!!

@josephsmith594 you’re messed up as you imagine all these. Get your head checked! I repeat again: The poster said central Toronto driving fee, not toll to enter the city. Get your English comprehension right.
