  1. I have to disagree with Malcom’s takes here - I find it extremely hard to believe China lost more than 20 percent of their population from the virus, that could not be hidden and everyone would be seeing such a large reduction - if you look at chinas demographic pyramid it has increases for each generation as demographic echos from a prior increase, their Gen alpha is actually a bit larger and they’ll have another echo shoring up more youth population, this buys them decades of time to try and resolve the demographic issue - I’m not so sure Israel’s tech industry will keep them relevant, for one the only think stopping them from becoming a pariah state is hardline US support which may be gone in 20 years when Gen Z is in charge and the boomers are gone as young people are far more critical of them. Secondly even now their economy and social fabric has major issues such as many businesses closing or selling, both google and intel canceling large projects, and the wealthy secular demographic leaving due to not liking the growing religious nationalist demographic like when we saw large scale protests last year. The haredi population is very unproductive and is rapidly increasing but has a lot of political power and is extremely averse to changing their life style which would make them a big drain on the economy. I believe a recent poll found something like 40% of Israeli Jews said they considered leaving. Climate change may also make it harder to live there due to increasing temperatures.
