@JM-lk6wo Jersey used to check all kinds of stuff, now it's just emissions. They used to look at wipers, life car front end up a tad, and by hand pull on front wheels to find this kind of stuff, headlight alignment, brake stopping on a device that measured the stopping ,all taillights, look under neath to check for exhaust mods, it took some time. No charge, state run part of registration fees. Now state is just doing emissions..hook up scan tool, read the number and stick a sensor into the exhaust. if they catch a cracked windshield the flag it. We have a lot of junkers on the roads that shouldn't be. Go to Germany for a week drive around, come back here, and see how bad this place is..we are 2nd world and falling fast.

@BruceCoggins This is a dumb thing to do. Driveway suspension designers, then this junk is on the road, scary. the entire camber, caster is now all off, suspension, steering, is actually done factory for a reason, but a driveway nudnick knows better, here just raise this, shove some stuff in, i am an injuneer.

@russelbaird3342 What does the mfg manual say for oil change intervals? After over 1.5 million miles of driving well over 30 cars, GM, chryslers, VWs I have never ever had an oil related engine issue by following the mfgs book specs. Do you think they know what they made better than people who just make up stuff? Modern cars easy do 10K between changes on my last few VW's and current 2019 Golf R with 87K fun fantastic reliable , never a burp miles. Changing oil unnecessarily is a waste of resources, money, and creates more waste..it adds up. One of my VW's went to 316,000 fun miles, got bored with it, changed oil at that time non syn, as per mfg spec of 7500 no issues, never even changed cam chain or guides 316,000 never stranded miles. stick of course, never touched the trans, ever. they put specs in the manuals for a reason, the last thing vehicles makers want is customers spending un needed maintenance, cus people don't like to spend money if not necessary

VW fixed the regulator issues, my VW and Audi had the issues, 15 years ago or more. Audi made a fix better with the nylon slider that was the issue, by putting metal insert into the nylon slier, no need to replace entire regulator, like ya did on the VW models, permanent fix. VW had issues with the nylon slider i replaced many regulators on a few VW models. factory finally fixed, as my last 3 newer GTIs and current Golf R no issues, they solved the problem in the regulators. 17+ VW products since 1987 never left, current Golf r 2019 stick is the best one yet 88K fun no issues fun, and comfortable, fantastic all around car golf R stick of course.

Chrysler may finally be done, as Stalantis is looking into getting rid of several failed brands, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, all junk, for decades. How it has stayed in business this long is truly amazing. This will be your never ending nightmare, you will wish you never touched, lesson learned, never do freebies, ever

@ricktalbott9611 The East Penn facility in Pa is GIGANTIC, it's a little city, I've done work in their lab equipment. top quality stuff, East Penn produces like over 30 million batterys a year, a few sites, and in other countries too, a PRIVATE company, great stuff. In my HD, they make OEM, and Benz OEM supplier, I have them in my honda generators too. Deka, pay less for top quality stuff

When YOUR bills come due, you will soon realize that getting car throughput matters. And or a callback , what kind of labor warranty do you give for repairs? 90 days, is the norm. My dealer which I have been dealing with since 1987 as al my l cars I buy from them, doesn't double charge me, for something they discovered while doing other work, that requires taking the same thing apart. 17+ vehicles from same dealer, i drive al ot! And a vehicle occupying a lift waiting for parts, isn't bringing in money, every hour does matter, when YOUR bills come due

@powertool64 GFCI work, now basically required through entire residential setting, along with AFCI. even dishwasher power, 240v dryers need be on GFCI...just updated my daughter's dishwasher power with a new GFCI since they replaced the dishwasher, and redid kitchen, added GFCI as house built in 92, was lacking some additional stuff, had GFCI, from 92', grossly outdated and not all ckts where covered....it ain't just wet and damp anymore. Combo AFCI are over $100 each then AFCI/GFCI breakers more....they do serve a good purpose. Of course manufactures push the stuff into code, standard residential breakers are less than $10, now AFCI or GFCI are $50 for an Eaton GFCI 15A at Amazon, QP Home Depot wanted $76 ! for identical device An AFCI/GFCI is way past $100 but AFCI stops fires, with those small 16 ga lamp cords running about...combo AFCI for either series or parallel arcs, slick stuff, they work..I've had em way before required in my panel upgrade 200a back in 2007 GE, no issues. What does a 240V GFCI breaker for electric stove and electric dryer go for?!!!

And with a portable generator through a transfer switch, to do it legally, will be more safe, than running a diesel truck all night, with fumes etc..and really low end ext cords...and you are wearing out the new alternator everyday you drive the truck, when not in use, whilst the Honda generator is only used when needed. I run mine every few months to keep it's battery charged, and the gasoline has long term storage additive, it works. The Hondas are in a dry climate controlled garage, so they don't rot away, nor does the gasoline

@Flies2FLL My VW Jetta VR6 316,000 fun miles, never ever changed water pump, or any cooling hose, even I was amazed, hoses never showed any signs of bulge, leaks, nutin. Never had a radiator or heater core leak, never a problem it musta been a good year vehicle. Used VW spec'd coolant, if it was flushed and changed 2 times in 316,000miles it's a lot...

VW 2.0T Golf R 2019 and in all my previous and current VW's have filter right on top, and I use vacuum to suck out oil, no climbing under neath, the vac gets every last drop. And it doesn't use the resource wasting, waste producing metal can filters, just replace the cartridge element, less waste, with even more filter capacity, Mahle, Bosch,Mann

Why would they rivet in a window regulator, oy vey...VW on which I have changed regulators on previous years, ha a plastic guide breakage issue, motors never failed, and they where bolted in, better design...except for the plastic breaking stuff, on an audi, same thing, but they sold the plastic guides as a repair part, updated design with a metal insert for strength, bolted in, ez pz...GM, keeps to underwhelm, in all the years

Even lifetime coolants loose resistance to corrosion, etc. change it every 5 years. 4 motion 4WD fluids is part of the drive connection, so it is factory spec'd to be changed at specific intervals. Brake fluid, etc. That's the advantage of manual, stick transmission, which is all i drive since 1987 Dealer even says, don't touch it, never. And it's standard gear oil. No magic property. I never ever had a manual transmission problem in dozens of VW's 316,000 fun miles on one manual stick always 150,000 plus miles, never touch gear oil in manual trans

@K.Kelly87 Our 98' Vw Passat, had faield blend door foam after 14 years, I changed out teh heater core under teh dash, I pulled dash out, myself, learned a lot, amazing how stuff just goes in place, wiring etc. after I replaced the leaking heater core, not hot? Hmmm, sho nuff after I brought it to my local deaelr, of whom I've bought 17+ VW stuff from them over teh eyars, they said, it's the foam, , and they didn't charge me for diagnosis...So I had to pull dash apart, got to doors sho' nuff, so as the dealer suggested put a piece of cardboard cut to side, taped with duct tape...put it all back together HEAT and cool, it fixed it, held up for years after...I found a new blend door asembly on Ebay but never preplaced it, as my fix kept on working, till we sold the car had it for like 16+ years, great car..

@mllarson Actually age itself does cause stuff to decay, rot, dry out, fail, fade, crumble, crack, corrode, lubricants dry out, headliners fall down,if age didn't matter, why do they make new ones?...and just generally fail. Especially in hot humid wet Fla environment.

@DeepakKumar-lv4te My 2019 Golf r has been super great about my 17th or so VW product since around 1987, i drive a lot, but now retired lot less, only 87K on current R..had GTIs Jettas, Passats, Audi A6, even that was stick 2.7L Bi Turbo manual stick even!, it was nice etc Golf R stick of course, best one yet. Super quick, fun fun fun, handles like it's glued to the road. They keep changing warranty this one had 6 year 72K, now 2024 is down to like 4 and 50K Mine only had a thermostat housing coolant weep, fixed under warranty I was still under the 72K so I caught it in time. Not any other burp...it's my favorite one of all time...amazing what they get out of the 2.0L turbo, mpg is great smooth potent, less weight up front, and the 4 motion really does make it a step above the GTI, I had 2 GTI previously, lots of fun, really good, but the R is a step up in how it feels driving. Sadly 2024 is the last R with stick..

@DeepakKumar-lv4te that's why I prefer stick, simple, just gears, and it keeps me engaged in driving, as in awake. I had on Jetta VR9 GLX stick never touched the trans, never 316,000 fun reliable never been stranded or stuck, ever, it was a great car, even the dealer says, don't touch it, leave it alone, I've been with the same local VW dealer for all my 17+ cars since 1987, i drove a lot. This current 2019 golf R, though is the most fun and comfortable, and super super quick, handles and in control amazing, it wants to do 100 mph effortlessly, it's easily reached on the main highways, without realizing it, car is so rock stable smooth quiet...they don it right mk7.5 so the better dash brighter easy to see. My son in law has a mk 7 GTI 2017 auto though, but it's super nice, daughter has 2018 tiguan, wife has 2013 tiguan all good. But the Golf R reins supreme

My 2019 VW Golf R' has a 6 year 72,000 mile full warranty, what are you talking about? AND it's 30+ MPG, and super quick as in super super quick and handling is superb, a 96' Buick has to be a horrible experience to drive, get real...After 17+ VW products since 1987, yes I drive a LOT, all well past 100K miles,147,000 + miles, and on and on, NEVER stranded, flawless and fun, had a Jetta VR6 go 316,000 fun comfortable miles, never stranded or stuck....I had lots of 70's and 80's company cars from GM, chevys and Pontiac what GARBAGE, 2 months old, transmission throws all its fluid, dash lights go out entire dash ckt board needed to be replaced out of warranty, good thing company car. When i had to buy my own, went VW, never left entire family VW went to VW in 1987, never left, better cars, in all aspects. And from the same dealer

Real insurance companies warranty repairs, so they insist on OEM, and not swag replacement parts, nor un certified body shops. Some body shops meet high end certs to fix Porsches, Benz, audi, etc. So they usually do things perfect, there is a difference. Guy had a Ferrari, hit a deer, or the deer hit him, $45K in damages, no under workings, just body damage..i said, wow, so they totaled it? NO!! thing was worth $350,000 !!! Out of my world....only 5 body shops in the U.S. authorized to do the work...took several months, to get parts from the factory etc etc...looked at repair, you really would never know, it was so well painted etc...guy said just the Logo on the fender was $5,000 !!! oy vey...cool logo up close, has the Italian flag colors along the top edge, DETAILS cost money. Don't use Ferrari in winter, he uses his 2023 BMW SUV, nice world to be in i guess..the damage to his Ferarri cost more than my VW Golf R new

@lgninjalo you do know the residential voltages over the last 50+ years has slowly increased, 110,115,120,125, stay current, hey that's a PUN...older devices never had 125v on them, so you know so much, yet don't understand much..wouldn't want do live in what you wire, well, we wire min...cus we don't believe in doing it right, or better, for several aspects of wiring. Produce the cites that says 120V is nominal, not wikipeida either, cus it's mostly wrong

@johnangelico667 and VW has secs like 502,504,505,507, there are subtle but important differences, like all makes, it's not just weight anymore additives that stop oxidation, and a lot more going on inside a modern engine. the manual with my 2019 VW Golf R even says, never use more than 1/2 L if you need to top off low, with some oil that doesn't meet VW specs....it's that critical. Each MY had different numbers 502,504,505,507..between our 2013, 2018, 2019 MY .if the bottle doesn't have the specs, it's not the correct oil for the vehicle.

@JaysonStork I have never had an issue with VW or Audi CPO stuff, it's manufacture warranty on CPO for benz, BMW, Audi, VW, not the dealer warranty , so it is like a new car,...they never sell clunkers, stuff is pristine, like new, you happened to get a skunk dealer. When it's CPO it's completely checked out, with no leftovers, heck, I even asked for a simple plastic clip that was snapped in the engine bay, they got it for me, because, it wasn't supposed to be broken, and I also bought 17 cars from them over the decades since 1987, new and CPO...when ya find a great dealer, ya stick with em

@JaysonStork CPO vehicles are like new, try it, full warranty, cars are vetted, no junkers, company factory warrantys, not dealers, they are completely inspected, and worn parts replaced, absolutely like new, know many people who have the CPO experience, Benz, audi, VW, Porsche....yes, all the worry for a used car is gone, cus they are barely used, i know someone who found a 3 eyar old ford with 3,000 miles on it, amazing, like new indeed, full factory warranty CPO , yes, trust , like buying new, try it, and it all in writing

WaWa is an $18 Billion a year business. WaWa is over 1000 stores. Jersey, Pa,Va.,Md,D.C.,not N.Y. or Ct. for some reason. First one I seen in Fla was Orlando years ago, sign, said WaWa is coming right across from the Holiday Inn, cus people from up here go to Fla, and miss WaWa so they went there. They are heading to Ohio, and North Carolina. All the WaWa employees have the same training and attitudes, I've been to dozens over the years, consistent, because they are corp owned, not a Franchise like 7-11 and others . Quesadillas are GREAT get one, all different variety, fresh made to order

Still wondering how generic oil meets all car makers specs, from VW specs 505 504 etc etc, Audi, Nissan, TOYota, they all have specs, that are not just weight....if it's not written on teh label, it's not been tested to that makers spec, even if the labels have meets SAE etc, without specific mfgs specs, it's not. Involves emissions, etc. Motul, Liqui Moly etc, have all different oils, some not listing VW, but list Porsche specs etc, subtle differences, even the manual states, if not meeting specs, in an emergency, use only like 1/2 L or less if oil doesn't have specs stated on bottl

When the door foam doesn't seal properly, it makes things not cool or heat properly, it's critical. Years ago, I replaced a leaking heater core in my 98 Passat VW...new core was $10 !!! closeout, normally $126 stumbled on a deal. Exact part...after installing it all new coolant, etc put dash all back in, which still impresses me how cables and harnesses are molded and connectors line up just right. Engineering under the dashes is amazing. Meant to fit, and go together . All good no more leaks, also no heat!! Turns out the foam fell off the diverter doors, and not sealing...didn't get foam but used cardboard, cheesey, but it worked, got heating and cooling...of course had to pull dash back off....that in itself is amazing engineering how it just fits in. steering wheel shaft holder has one use bolts...so it's like a safety rule, got new ones from the dealer..worked for few more years till we finally gave it up after 16 years of reliable car. just got old, was in good shape, but new ones are better. Saved a lot of money by doing it myself, over what it would have cost at the dealer. took time, be slow and steady, didn't break any tabs or lose any screws, all connectors electrical went right back in place, harness designs are another engineering magic, cables are just teh right shape and length...it just fits...meant to go together fast on the assy line everything went right back in TWICE

When I replaced the window regulators on our A6 Audi years ago, i had the factory service manual, thick like a old phone book, shown full detail of removing stuff like this, and where the hidden snaps and screws are. On the Audi, it was always the plastic slider, factory up date was one with a metal insert to prevent further cracking. older VW's had similar braking plastic gliders, they had to swap out entire regulator, i got to be an expert on the VW years and years ago, since it was being replaced with same part, Audi version updated the parts and it never failed again, .... Newer VW's ain't got no issues no more, cured the window issues quite a while ago

@matthewellisor5835 Legal issues in 2022, it's not 1962, it's a different world, the stuff i had done to me as a kid, would be jail for parents today, or the stuff we did as kids, and survived just fine, when everything wasn't monitored, and looked into, for your safety and better health. I used to be left alone as a 7 year old, since both parents worked all day and night, to SURVIVE, now, kids are told, where is your parents, how dare a 7 year old be on their own...it's 2022...we have actually gone backwards in so many things

After driving now well past 1.5 million miles, on cars starting with a 1966 Chrysler, old crap is junk, carbs are more obsolete than a rotary phone....fuel injection, and now direct injection, improves everything, EVERYTHING....from a 19666 Chrysler to my current 2019 VW Golf R.....stay in your obsolete world, I'll have lots of reliable FUN, with a modern direct injection 300 hp 4 cyl Golf R with stick of course...oy vey....Im clueless, ok. 17 + VW products since 1987 have them evolve better and better, improved stuff, high miles all the time 316,000 on a VR6 Jetta GLX reliable, and never stuck ever. VW also pioneered electronic fuel injection on mass produced cars, it changed everything...direct injection is now common on everything, cus it's better...2022, not 1922 join it

@P_RO_ there is no downtime, after 56,000 flawless miles on my 2019 VW Golf r it gets oil changes filter changes, and just put a new set of tires on it, there is no downtime, and it is super quick, comfortable and 30 mpg when driving the long 3-4 hour drives i do a lot of....join today, not 1922..yeah, a 45 year old car, what an investment, oy vey
1
-
@P_RO_ Stock golf r mk8 does 171 mph on the autobahn, rock solid and stable, drives like it's nothing, lets see an old Mustang do 171 mph on the Autobahn, the thing would probably be all over the road...wake up, Audi and Benz even VW tiguan R in Europe has over 450 HP using 6 cyls...time has passed you by, really, you are living in the past. That thing can cruise all day long at 150 mph plus, I can guarantee you an old Mustang ain't gonna be doing that... Join the 21st century, stuff has improved big time , and the 2019 Golf r has a 6 year 72,000 mile warranty, no U.S. car ever had anything like that bumper to bumper, it's now down to 4 and 50K, bumper to bumper...30 mpg yeah cruise for 4 hours at speed how many times ya stop to get gas, I get 380 miles per tank full...and it wants to cruise all day..old Mustang ain't happening..as AUDI says, what good is power without control...and the Golf R is 4wd for much better control than an over powered wheel rear drive old car...driving is more than a straight line ya know

@P_RO_ Cars from teh past didn't have 12 year corrosion warranty either, I had all the old JUNK 1966 Chrysler 1970 New Yorker 71 Imperial, the paints fade in 4 years, corrosion starts right away, horrible brakes, tires lasted 20,000 miles, old stuff is JUNK...polluting, inefficient JUNK been there done that, I had lots of horrible crap Chevy's as company cars, Pontiacs, all CRAP, couldn't stay in it's lane the steering was so loose and crap...Obviously you have never actually driven real performance cars, that have full control, not just wasted HP...I've had 1966 1970 decade cars, 1980, 1990, 2000, and on and on, they are now better than ever, if you really think some crap from the 1970's where better mad, oy vey...you need to wake up

If you need to add stuff to the Amsoil oil, then the oil is not good. Why does Amsoil need additional additives? Oy Vey. VW specifically says never put any oil additives . Use oil that meets specs VW 502,504,505,507 etc etc, and different models do have different specs. Same with the coolant, there is no such thing as one coolant for all vehicles. It's not 1965 anymore. There are different chemistry in different coolants, and different engines have different metallurgy, and internal parts. VW has about 4 different coolant versions, from old G12, G12+,G12++,G13 etc etc. As does Audi etc. It's not all the same blends.

Curious about your oil stock, does it meet all the brands specs that you work on? VW 504, 505, 507 508, Etc, Gm, Ford, chrysler, there are subtle differences in specs, not just weight since it's all in unlabeled tanks, how do you know it meets all them specs, not just weight values..

Amsoil is not superior ..it's marketing nonsense. Why do any of the bottles ever list mfg's specs, that it meets. cus they have not tested to various mfgs specs. all oil is not the same, additives matter. Motul, Liqui Moly,Castrol all have mfgs specs on teh packaging. Some 0-30W is correct weight, but won't have that it meets a VW 504 spec, means it's not the same as a 0-30 from same mfg that has VW or Porsche, or Audi spec numbers. Same for GM, Ford etc. All finished oils, are not the same. They may start from the same base lube, but additives matter. Same as coolants themselves, no one fits all

@coolantkid3428 There are specs, i didn't say the label had to say Audi VW etc, or GM, or Ford. But the different coolants available today are very different, there is no universal coolant type that will work in all the different engine materials. There used to be just green, that was long ago, that's gone, then blue, that is basically gone...now there is oink, Violet, Pentosin which makes a lot of the stuff, ++ now e, both being violet, but a different mix again. Engines use lots of different materials, metals, and different plastics. Just like all oils are not interchangeable, neither are coolants. If one universal coolant was fine, don't you think all makers would use it, it would save them money ...They are not interchangeable, well, they are if you want issues, premature corrosion, and failures of pumps, of which most now have 2 or more, I know mine does. Under VW specs there is G11,G12,G13 all violet or purple, yet not the same blend. Instructions specially say, do not mix..some are glycol, some are glycerine, and other mixes

Makes ya appreciate the engineering in vehicles, how all these PARTS go together quick and quicker on an assy line, everything just falls into place, holes, bends even in OEM carpets just lay in, and everything just fits...cus they only get a few minutes to lay it in the correct spot, all the cut outs, just exact...pretty cool actually. taken for granted...and they don't get much time to get it in the correct place on the assy line. And how much of stuff is snap together plastic, back in the 50's 60's...metal heavy, would corrode, and rust....

@spaceflight1019 modern cars don't rust like stuff even 10 years ago...much improved sealers, and metal components...heck VW had a 12 year unlimited miles rust and corrosion warranty, and that was in Jersey with slated winters, I never had rust or corrosion issues here....If cars are made properly, they don't rust out and corrode..paints are much better on newer cars also. There are exceptions...GM, Ford, Jeep, might not actually be up to other makers spec , our 10 year old VW Tiguan is shiney like brand new, not one spot of dull or fade...German Tiguan, but robots painting them in Mexico now are the same stuff...same high quality

@jgn593 WRONG, tools are readily available...they are a superior fastening product, and during factory assy they don't slip out of the assemblers tools.....If I have all the stuff, it's not hard to obtain, and actually there are many many "special" tools by all makers, that are also readily available, ..some of the stuff is pricey, like an engine hoist, I would certainly not need and only a dealer would have it since they use it more often. But the majority of the hand tools needed for routine work, readily available Especially now with Internet, just look it up...I even have the Audi bolts that allow the entire bumper to slide forward for maintenance on the A6...not all that pricey either...correct tools, make things go right. I have lots of VW specialty tools as they call it, and the VW part numbers readily available at several suppliers...the correct tools matter, otherwise you are a tool
1
-
@jgn593 It's not "shit" it's a better design, do you think giant mfgs of 10 million vehicles are gonna spend engineering time to plan stuff so YOU can't work on your car, it's all about assembly line efficiency, and robustness, and stuff to perform as needed, watch an assy line, how stuff falls right into place with fasteners, cus they are designed with special tips, and head designs, so the tools hold onto them...so a TORX fastener is just made to confuse you? NOPE...And security torx, are there to really blow your mind, but the tools to use them are readily available

Hey, no car maker recommends any oil additives. If you have to add something to the oil, you are using the WRONG oil. Fact. amsoil doesn't have all mfg spec ratings, why not. It's not universal. Stop saying it's the best. It doesn't have mfg spec numbers on it, why not? Look at the sticker on this VW, see spec number? Is that on the amsoil label, like it would be on a Motul, or Castrol, or Liqui Moly container. It matters, it also affects emissions on never models, that's the reason for specifications

VW Audi also has rules, not to mix different color coolants, when the coolant goes dark, it means a chemical reaction happened and changed the chemistry of the coolants, and it can damage the engine innards, corrosion, build up up corrosion. engines have become highly tunes to what oils, what coolants etc. Pink when called for blue on real old models, Violet for newer stuff, never mix coolants. It's not 1971 and all it was green, deadly glycol

@dantesinfernopurgatory7826 I had a dozen various 1980's to early 2000's. not reliable, and they where also a maintenance nightmare, and under performing, I had every decades worth of vehicles, current 2019 VW Golf R is the best one yet super quick, handles like on rails, and 89,000 fun not a burp miles. maintenance is a few filter changes, oil every 10K, and a serpentine belt every 60K. I get 100K out of brakes consistently highway driving, stuff from 60's or 80's ate brakes like a melting ice cream cone, they where mostly GM junk company cars, since I went with VW some decades ago, no such issues. One serpentine belt replaced the old 3 fan belts, that where worn out in 20K miles...new is better

@dantesinfernopurgatory7826 The carbon issues where resolved on latest version of 2.0L turbo, more cooling in the top end, no issues on mine so far 89K miles. I don't drive anywhere near what I used to routinely 1000 miles a week easy, highway, which is best for any vehicle. I don';t use any oil between 10,000 mile oil changes, never add any. none of our VW's use oil between changes. We got lucky, I did read of issues. I have also been with the same VW dealer since 1987 all have come from them, Even an Audi A6 2.7 Bi turbo 5 valve per cyl !! with 6 speed manual, that car was super slick ,same guys are mostly still there after all these years. Piech made VW the empire it is, and he did develop lots of stuff, Quattro, and engines for Benz, Porsche and VW...a car guru, not a bookkeeper. and with like 10 kids from 4 wives!!! Part of the clan that owns VW

Scotty thinks if it ain't a toyota, its bad...he never actually driven anything worth any money,he's basically a junk collector...he works on worn out junk that didn't get proper maintenance...my current vw golf r 72 ,000 reliable fun comfortable driving. Super quick, handles fantastic, not slop wishy washy Toyota

VW 2.0L Turbo, filter on top, use vac sucker to extract oil, never bother with drain plug....only was changed 2 times at dealer part of the maintenance part of the sale one each at 10K miles..i do my own now with suction...works great...down to the last drop...cartridge filter is much better, cheaper, Mahle, Mann, the good stuff. Metal can oil filters are old, and wasteful, and land fill, cartridge inserts are more practical

@MattG-n2z you have to experience more. I've been driving from my first vehicle a 1966 Chrysler Newport, to today's 2019 VW Golf RRR stick of course, probably 30 vehicles over the decades...plus my daughters and wife's several vehicles over the years. The 90s, 2000 where as much junk as the 1965 Newport compared to a modern 2019 vehicle, especially the VW Golf R. superior comfort, performance, efficiency, safety, and everything else. old cars are obsolete, they improve over the years. I had a dozen company vehicles on top of that, and talk about junk oy vey 1970s 1980,1990s 2000 GM junk was miserable in so many aspects. But it was included as my pay, a company car. At one time, people where so tired of the horrible company cars, GM junk, we opted to go with monthly car allowance plus miles, to get the cars we wanted to drive, and paid off early because of monthly allowances, but I drove them a lot, the closer to 21st century, the better they got, not GM junk. they where junk in the 90's 60's all the way through early 2000s. You need more experience, your claim is wrong. New is more efficient, safer, better performance, and less and less maintenance needed

I had a new monte carlo, dash lights went out in like 3,000 miles...under warranty, dealer couldn't find problem, and one of the better chevy dealers", they wasted days, finally as they should have done replaced dash display section, never had a car ever do that, then the trans developed massive fluid leak, car had like 10,000 miles. total junk...trans totally stopped working....others had all kinds of issues, in the office. Crush this junk, before it becomes a money trap. After all the Chevy junkers, I went German in the 80's and never left...from the same dealer 17 vehicles all driven high miles 316,000 on one never stranded, never been stranded ever in decades of only German ..there is a difference.

What size blade on the Honda, mine is 21inch...after 35 years, I replaced the magneto...cus the attach plug wire was getting antsy, OEM seal epoxied one not available, so I found an off brand, not encapsulated, Honda original $88 if available, swag brand like $20..Cus it ain't encapsulated, which does make them last longer, no dirt, moisture gets in over time..but it starts faster one half pull now, can your Honda start in one pull? Mine is old, and keeps on mowing..

I pulled the dash on our VW Passat 1996, years ago,for replacing the heater core leak... I was impressed how the stuff is put together, wiring harness, snap together, wires exact sizes to be where they should, lot going on under there...it took a few days cus i worked slow, not to snap plastic snaps and stuff, heater core was list price $140...on sale for $8.98, for real, OEM, cus it was past 10 years, they wanted to get it out of stock...and it all worked no more leaks, and all the electrical worked, steering wheel need a new use once bolt, which dealer had in stock...that's why dealers get a lot of labor charges, all labor

@Helicopter Dad! What is it 1970? Chrysler doge Jeep, are not American, you do know it is owned by Italian and French, cus they would be gone if not bailed out by Fiat and Puegot. So GM and Ford making stuff in Mexico, like all do, where VW is the largest car factory in north america, been there since the 1960s. GM is building a brand new facility in Mexico, so GM made in Canada, now what? VW has 126 factories around the world, TN is making atlas and ramping up EV stuff ID 4 first. Honda, TOYota all make stuff here, so does Subaru, Daimler Benz makes Freightliner trucks here, and Benz sprinter vans, which looks like Dodge buys from them. International Harvester Navistar is a VW divsion you know.... ...you do know the actually successful companies are all outside the U.S., making stuff here, GM and Ford are way behind. GM closed 6 factories in the U.S., moved to Mexico....it's a GLOBAL industry. And all successful factories are not UAW.....wake up

I've been at teh same VW dealer since 1987 17+ vehicles I drive a lot, never ever have they done me wrong. If it needs it, they do it, if I think it needs something, they check, and say, nah, unless you want to spend money, ya don't need this or that. Dealer service, means more sales, when service does it right. I don't go anywhere else for our VWs...which is why they run and run 316,000 on one, finally got tires of it, got another one, and many many more after that ..current Golf R stick of course, is the best one yet

@nlrhsboyssoccer5046 No ACEA specs, can't use it, motul, castrol, Liqui Moly, total, few others meet VW specs..amsoil is a marketing company mostly based on nonsense, like the oil additive companies BG, if you need to add something to the oil, you are using the wrong oil. VW books specifically say, never use any oil additives, voids the warranty is it doesn't something they can detect, like clogged stuff, or destroyed gaskets. Marvel Mystery oil, Sea foam, and so many other nonsense products, useless
1
-
@nlrhsboyssoccer5046 My Golf R wants VW spec 504 Castrol is on the filler cap. Motul, Liqui Moly, Total, has 0-30 that meets VW 504 spec. Amsoil doesn't have a VW spec number. The other spec that sort of matches VW specs is an ACEA spec..i forget which one. VW spec has numerous 502,504, up to now 508 for newer stuff, 508 is not necessarily backwards compatible to a lower say 504. Emissions, and other specs matter in the oils. Lot going on in oil technology. Our 3 VW's in the family all use different numbers. As they are different versions of the EA888 2.0L turbo. Same with coolants, from the old green, to Blue, to Pink, now Purple, it too, is all different, there is no one blend for all cars. If it whre so, OEM would use it, it would certainly be easier, than having all different specs like G11, G12,G12+, G13 and on and on. Pentosin had all the VW coolant spec numbers in many different blends. There is no one coolant for all cars. It just ain't so.

@BillMalcolm-tn3kq GTI engine for several years was made in Mexico, Golf R always Germany, and the engines are stamped as such. Now all golf, GTI, R are Germany. The castings are different alloys, in the block, and the piston connecting rods are either cast, or forged, and they are different, as are the piston tops for different compression. As are the turbos, and valves, either sodium filled or not, they are both 2.0L turbo, but different stuff...subtle differences, change everything. The water pumps are different also
