  2. I suspect the focus on Islam is to deflect from the brutalising effect of belonging to the American armed forces (or indeed the Israeli ones). A lot of the violent crime in the US is committed by people who have been in the US Army, you know, the one that refuses to accept the jurisidiction of the ICC, won't sign up to the UDHR, and which trains its recruits using collective punishment to turn them into near-zombies. The US is a state which maintains its power through widespread violence, and which encourages gun ownership so it has a ready supply of recuits already programmed to believe that guns are the answer to various problems. Then they are surprised when mentally ill people follow the same logic. Blaming Islam when the main cause of Islamic terrorism is US power projection in the Arab world and Iran is pretty silly.
