The simple fact is that brain function is so complex that developing medicines is enormously difficult. One of my supervisors would remark that antidepressants do not treat depression, they mask some of the symptoms. I believe in the last year or so biochemists are finally starting to get to the biological cause of depression, which means a "scientific" as distinct from symptomatic relief treatment is still probably decades off. A lot of "mental health treatment" is in essence fraudulent - Freud invented what was in essence an untestable money making scam which is still treated seriously in the USA, whereas CBT does have some degree of success.

Total waste of time. The attempt by anti-vaxxers to prove vaccines were harmful by getting people to record their experiences was proof of that, I tried to read some of the reports and they were laughable. The amount of detail needed to make a report credible is rather large, especially the need for a lot of medical history prior to an "event". It just is not feasible. Medical trials are very expensive, and in effect extending them to the entire population for all medical events would cost hundreds of pounds per head of population per year, based on additional tests needed.

@Rose-zw2oe Why are you wasting NHS resources in dispensing medicine you refuse to use, and causing pollution hazards by binning them? You obviously do have a major attitude problem that prevents doctors from helping you. My wife knows someone like you. She went to see the same consultant as my wife. She has the same attitude that doctors don't know what they are doing and went in with it, then complained that the consultant was "hostile" and refused to do what she was told. The same person was extremely helpful to my wife and is still monitoring her condition many years later. You sound like you are your own problem.
