This is because of the electrical potential set up between iron and 300 series nickel-chrome-iron. Aluminium corrodes more slowly because of the oxide barrier. In "ordinary" cars all the steel parts are about the same potential.

@Ragebait01 It depends what you mean by "stronger". Impact resistance, energy absorption during deformation, hardness, Young's modulus, a whole host of materials properties. The BMW i3 has a carbon fibre cabin with no B pillar and is much lighter than a steel equivalent. In the end they abandoned the concept, only after making a quarter million of them. So by that metric - making a car - carbon * is* stronger than steel.
