After the handover from USA to the Philippines, the US specifically said that Philippines does not have sovereignty over the Spratly islands.

@paqboii1907 Philippines has no sovereignty over the Spratly as per the handover. Vietnam acknowledge that the Spratlys is Chinas. And China was the first county to make claims to the Spratlys and was unchallenged. Whether it is Nationalist China or Communist China that "owns" the Spratlys is debatable.

@Christine.3737 Yes, but when there is another countrys territory nearby, the EEZ of both the countries are reduced unless negotiated. Moreover, China is claiming sovereignty in the region, in which UNCLOS doesnt say you cant do.
