John Maddrill A nation comes before a city. Her "citizens" are citizens of China. Not a betrayal AT ALL.

Tan Ha Because people like you care about it. Thats why you clicked on this video...

Tan Ha Also this is called a "press conference", whereby the media ASKS HER QUESTIONS and she responds accordingly. Lol did you assume she said all that because she felt like saying all that without being asked?

Rik Ralph F. Sularte Its "One Country Two Systems" And regardless, this is the requirement to join WTO, straight from their official website: 'Any state or CUSTOMS TERRITORY having full autonomy in the conduct of its trade policies may join (“accede to”) the WTO'

Vicky Subba HK still is?

Jacob Mee Republic of China is part of China too. How come the US doesnt force them to say "made in China" too?
1
@Blindswordsman1994 Not sure what your point is there. So why cant HK have "made in HK" then? Since HK is part of China?
1
@Blindswordsman1994 "because Hong Kong is no longer Hong Kong. It has no autonomy and is just part of China (PRC)" If HK is not longer "HK", then what is it called? If they have no autonomy, then why do they not pay taxes to PRC and still have their own police force, school system, laws etc? "China doesn’t recognise Hong Kong as a separate entity so why should the rest of the world" Taiwan as well. So why can Taiwan have "made in Taiwan" but not HK?

Cede Whether HK can or cannot be part of the WTO is up to WTO themselves. NOT the US.
1
Cede A member does not need to be a "country" to join the WTO mind you. HK was never a "country"
1
Guri Singh HK has a HIGH DEGREE of autonomy. Its always been like this since 1997.
1
@Blindswordsman1994 If HK has no autonomy when why do they have their own justice system, police force, education, borders etc?
1
@jeffreyl2598 Its not a "national law", Chinas laws dont apply to HK. Its a national SECURITY law, something that was originally in HKs mini constitution but HK violated it and did nothing about it so China needed to step in to reemphasise it. Big difference. Just dont freaking break the law and there will be no problems. Theyre not "losing" anything that they originally had prior to 1997. Remember, HK could not even vote for their "governor" under British rule. It was GIVEN to them. And you could not protest. What are they "slowly losing" again?
1
Link 24 Nope, it was Hong Kong that violated the One Country Two System first by doing NOTHING about secession, sedition, terrorists, and those that colluded with foreign government to influence local politics. Hence why China had to step in.
