@ilikecreeper331 Carrying the family name is not "like from 5 decades ago". Its a thing that still exists, and will exist in the foreseeable future.

@HotaruGlaive I didnt say anything about the wifes last name? In Chinese culture, the wife never takes on the husbands last name. We are talking about the children carrying on the familys last name here. Thats what I meant by "carrying on" - only descendants can "carry on". Children do not typically take on the females last name in China. Thats why they prefer males because their children can continue on their family linage then. If its a female, their family linage stops - as their children wont have their last name. Hope that clarified everything
