Clementi Hammock Those are government complexes illegally sublet out... Heres a post from another commentor: These are not private residential homes. These government built and owned apartments that are leased super cheap to the tech workers as part of the program to attract talents. But the tech workers sub-leased them to people who pay twice the price because they can send their kids to a very great school nearby. The whole sublease is violating the leasing contract. These people don’t want to move because they are afraid of this being found out and couldn’t move back. The government relocate the people to other apartments free of rent for half of a year which most people are happy with.

Matthew Ng What to you mean by forever? Its only been a couple of weeks. Thats nothing compared to Melbourne, Australia, the most lockdown city in the world totalling 9 months...

@jaceyang Violence? Being taken away for obstructing police officers from doing their duty is "violence" to you?
2
@jaceyang "Yes, because violence is violence" So youre saying police cant do anything "violent" like arresting people from obstructing police doing their duty? So tell me, what should police do when people are obstructing police officers from doing their duty? Name me ONE major country that will NOT arrest people for obstructing police officers from doing their duties. "These are rightful tenants" You seem rather confident in your words there. Do you have evidence to those claims?
2
@jaceyang "If you say that evicting people from their homes is police duty" As mentioned earlier, its not "their" home. Most have been illegally occupied by illegal tenants. And tenants are renters, not home owners. Its government property. "chances are that probably my information is more precise vs those the ones from the folks that are not here on the ground and near from where this happened" Proximity to said site does not correlate to information accuracy, especially when information is not directly from those not involved. Either way, this building is government property, its the owners of the property that has the final say. Tenants are reallocated to another location rent free for the next 6 months. Really nothing to be protesting about unless theyre not legal tenants and cannot get the free reallocation.

@Vijay.1234-h3j The US also did not "manage well". You spoke about India "managing well" so I commented in response to that.

Reaper Australia implemented a Zero Covid policy till end of last year. Look how well they did until they opened up...

AESTHETIC What are you surprised about? Their one-sided reporting? Those are government complexes illegally sublet out to illegal tenants... Blue Chops What makes you think China didnt do what you mentioned before declaring a lockdown?
1
Blue Chops So you can say that there is absolutely no food wastage in your country? And that there is absolutely no human error in your country? Moreover, the smaller a country, the easier it is to manage. The larger and more populated a country is, the harder it is to manage and is more prone to human errors. Also, if people delivering food are also locked up, then how did 20+ million people in Shanghai survive these few weeks?
1
@tyroneturbomax Because the media doesnt report it doesnt mean theres no food wastage. Theres ALWAYS food wastage. Even outside of the pandemic. Do you honestly think 100% of fruits and veggies are sold before they rot on the supermarkets? You think all ingredients are 100% used in restaurants before they rot? You think people eat 100% of the food they order on their plate? Dont be so naive. As for your last line, what makes you think China has not done so prior to such measures? Obviously because it became out of control thats why they increased their restrictive measures. Just because you were not told doesnt mean they didnt.
1
@tyroneturbomax I already addressed that point. No country on this planet is immune to human error. And the larger a country is, the more difficult it is to manage every single little thing. You conveniently ignored this point of mine while saying "get your argument right". The comment about the food wastage comes from your blatant statement that "no food wasted at all" in response to my question "so you can say that there is absolutely no food wastage in your country?". Theres food wastage everywhere. And theres human error everywhere. THATS my argument. The most important thing here is to learn from mistakes and not allow it to happen again.

@tyroneturbomax Likes? Im not seeing any likes. If anything, your comments keep getting censored. I cant even see it, I can only briefly see it in notifications.

@Vijay.1234-h3j India managed well? Tell me, how many deaths did India have again?
1
@oliverbanes5121 Calling others liars with zero evidence. Thats what REAL liars like yourself do
1
@1063-x6b As mentioned earlier, its not their "own home". Most are illegally occupying the premise (government property). And how do you know all usable options havent been exhausted? If you cant think of it, so can they. Theyre not dumb. Schools and other non-enclosed space is not an option for proper quarantine mind you. This isnt an extension of hospitals requiring extra beds. The purpose is different.
1
@melxdiq842 Just a few million deaths
1
@melxdiq842 Ahhh so you understand the severity of deaths, yet ask the question "what could possibly go wrong"? Like excuse me?
1
@taejo4975 You should learn to read between the lines...

@melxdiq842 Oh I get it dw. Its YOU that didnt get my sarcasm.

@melxdiq842 Ahh I thought you were the OP. Seems I tagged the wrong person. Oh wells

@osmomosis9216 Rules and restrictions is not called "quarantine"...
1
@BIGFOOOOOT What you mentioned is terrible but is irrelevant to my comment. I said its not "forever", its only been a couple of weeks. And what do you mean by without drinking water? Every single household in Shanghai has some form of water filter. How else are they meant to drink? Buy bottled water everyday? And what do you mean by "arrested from their homes". You think the first thing they do is to "arrest" someone thats tested positive? Clearly you are spreading misinformation here. Having them quarantined is not called "arrested".
