@tp_electro The island of Taiwans official name is called "Taiwan". Taiwan is only a mere province of Republic of China. So Taiwan is a PART OF ROC. Saying Taiwan = ROC is for the politically ignorant. Remember, Republic of China claim all of mainland China as part of its territory.

@randomperson8125 ROC and a dozen islands believe that ROC is the legitimate ruler of China. But PRC and the whole world believes PRC is the legitimate ruler of China. Whats legitimate or not is determined by who? Thats exactly why theres a conflict. Learn to read English before baselessly accusing others of not knowing history. @Otter-Destruction Oh so thats what youre getting at. Be clear buddy. Taiwan arent the only ones able to make chips. My laptops uses chipsets from the US. And my phone uses chipset from South Korea. Neither of them are from Taiwan.

Also, there is only 1 reason why ROCs economy is a little further ahead of PRC in terms of GDP per capita, its because Taiwan was shielded from decades of war! Decades of stable economic growth due to no war compounds to what you see today. As for HK, HK had a CONSTITUTIONAL DUTY to create their own national security law under their Mini-Constitution Article 23: It states that Hong Kong "shall enact laws on its own to prohibit any act of treason, secession, sedition, subversion against the Central People's Government, or theft of state secrets, to prohibit foreign political organizations or bodies from conducting political activities in the Region, and to prohibit political organizations or bodies of the Region from establishing ties with foreign political organizations or bodies." Almost half way through the 50 years of non-intervention in HK and HK STILL failed to create their own national security law stated by Article 23, and you still blame PRC for intervening? Who broke the agreement first? It was HK. Not Beijing. Dont push the blame. And bear in mind, it was BEIJING that gave HK their "democracy". When the British ruled HK they had a governor that HKers had absolutely NO say in. And you STILL blame Beijing. Just wow...

Investments means they OWN part of that company they invested in. Its not a "loan", they dont need to "pay back" anything. The US can just sell their stake in the company and get their money back if they want. "The u.s invested and built up Chinas economy in the name of friendship Then China turns around and becomes our enemy and threatens us Why? We loved China and they betrayed us" Dont be so naive. The US only does things thats in their interests. And it was the US that threatened China first. They never thought China one day would surpass the US so they did everything they could to contain China. And you blame China for pushing back against US? And the basis of China-US diplomatic relations is the "One China Principle", whereby there is only "One China", and that Taiwan is part of that "One China". The US has been trying to stir conflict and trying to undermine Chinas sovereignty over Taiwan (and other regions of China). And you dare say Chinas the one turning around and threatening the US?! Who you trying to fool?

@HapyKora Its not for you to decide whether PRC or ROC taking over China is "better" for China. Its for Chinese citizens to decide. Catalonia wants to be a separate country. Can Spain leave them alone? Quebec wants to be a separate country. Can Canada leave them alone? Native Australians/Americans/New Zealanders want to be their own separate country. Can AU/US/NZ leave them alone? I could go on. Its not "realistic" at all...
