@nevermore2688 Taiwan and HK are legally part of China. Get your facts right

@danmarkpogales7764 "and build artificial islands inside 200 miles EEZ of the Philippines" The US made it very clear in its handover, that PH has NO SOVEREIGNTY over the islands in the SCS. China as the first country in the region to claim sovereignty there and still holds it till this day. Its the neighbouring countries that turned aggressive first. And by extension, those artificial islands are not illegally built. Know where you stand and your rights. Coz clearly you think those islands are "yours" just because its close to you, but its not. Remember, PH has NO sovereignty to those islands.

@hiyukelavie2396 "How is Taiwan a gray zone?" Because "Taiwans" constitution states that Taiwan is a part of China.

@hiyukelavie2396 "Going by that argument, it's pretty clear cut - Taiwan is part of China Again, how is that a grey zone?" Its not "clear cut" because Taiwans government, Republic of China (ROC) claims to be the true legitimate government of ALL of China. Whereas the current known government of China, Peoples Republic of China (PRC) claims to be the real true legitimate government of all of China (inc Taiwan). Its a civil war that technically has not ended yet from decades back. No peace treaty was ever signed. Only a prolonged cease fire. Thats why its a "grey zone"

@hiyukelavie2396 Its clear cut to you and me, but not for others. Others believe Taiwan is a whole another country.

@hiyukelavie2396 "When you say that something is in a grey zone, it means that you find the issue to be ambiguous" Its exactly the ambiguity is what makes it a "grey zone". The original commentor for the "grey zone" was said in reference to the comment "They(China) will claim Taiwan and Hong Kong". When in fact he meant PRC will claim Taiwan, not "China" will claim Taiwan, as Taiwan is already part of "China". "Well, maybe to someone who doesn't know what the issue is about, it could be considered a grey zone I guess" This^ And that is why I said its clear cut to you and me, but not for others.

@danmarkpogales7764 The International tribunal spoke NOTHING about sovereignty. It spoke about EEZ. US conquered the Spanish. So sovereignty was handed over from Spain to USA. USA then handed sovereignty of PH back to the PH people, and in the handover it did NOT include any the now contested islands in the SCS. EEZ you have, sovereignty you dont. So stop saying the islands are yours, because its not.

@hiyukelavie2396 "Like I said, there's no ambiguity, therefore no grey zone" Then you are entitled to your opinions on what "grey zone" means to you. Lets agree to disagree and move on.
