@Lochamp Its not an "investment" when their overall market share is going down, and continues to go down in the foreseeable future. EVs are the future, and if the US is going to continue to pour money in a declining industry, then the US will no longer be able to compete (esp internationally) in a decades time.

@chinesesparrows Because you keep outsourcing all your manufacturing to them. Take your manufacturing back to your own country and watch Chinas status as worlds "top pollutor" go down in ranks.

@celanian8188 Your last point about Chinas playbook only works if wages are cheaper in the US, which is not the case.

@shraka Im specifically talking about the technology transfer point. What you have said does not touch on that very point.

@shraka You mentioned US tariffs and logistical issues. And you mentioned local American understanding of local American market and designs. How does any of the above points touch on technology transfer?

@shraka Building a car in the US does NOT mean technology transfer. Phones are also "made in China", but the most expensive parts arent. Theyre imported. So even if a car was built in the North America (doesnt have to be the US due to free trade agreements) to avoid tariffs, the core components like battery might not be built in North America. And you keep bringing back the tailoring car design point. Thats got nothing to do with technology transfer. Thats marketing. Theyre 2 completely different things.
