Comments by "Yerris" (@yerri5567) on "🇨🇳 China abolishes president's term limits | Al Jazeera English" video.
Dictatorship, like Kings, is neither inherently good or bad. It is the person in that position. If the King is great, then the country will benefit greatly. If the King is terrible, then the country will in turn be terrible. For some reason, you seem to think you know China more than the Chinese. Have you ever thought maybe it was exactly the experience of few thousand years of rulings that they came to this decision? The Chinese are the longest continuous civilisation in this world afterall.

Kameron Jone Like Ive said, dictators/kings arent inherently good or bad. It is the person in that position that makes it good or bad. The president is elected by the party, and can be impeached by the party. Theres no need to worry about another country. Ive said what I needed to say. And Ill leave it at that.

Kameron Jones It seems to me you really want China to have term limits, and know for sure its better for China to have term limits. That means you know whats best for China doesnt it? Why you want to interfere in another countrys internal affairs is beyond me. Just let them be. Its their country, they know what theyre doing. The party members there are more intelligent and experience than anyone on this thread. They have exams to get into the party afterall. And only the most intelligent and capable get in. "Just because there is laws about something doesn't mean they will be enforced" Its enforced. They already purged over a million party members in the past few years. From all the way at the bottom, to all the way up the top. Its big news.

Kameron Jones Their standard of living has been increasing due to the policies the government has made over the years. Not by term limits. Standard of living can increase year on year from a Kings ruling too. So much for "term limits". "it will come back to bite them" You seem to be overwhelmingly looking at only the negatives by not the positives for some reason. And like I said, China has policies in place that can "impeach" a "horrible" president much like other countries does. Why worry?

Note: You speak specifically on "corruption". Im speaking about "mismanagement" which is the bigger broader picture. Mismanagement happens regardless of term limits. So not quite sure what youre trying to say.

Kameron Jones Like I have said before, term limits is fine, no term limits is also fine. It all depends on who is ruling. "power will corrupt every one eventually" Not power "will" corrupt, power "can" corrupt. There are law against corruption in China. And even the president is not immune to such laws. Are you still thinking you know more and can govern China better than the Chinese can?

Kameron Jones I have no problem with term limits, and I also have no problems without term limits. But when you have someone that says "they had such potential. This is dictatorship. You'd think we'd learn after trying it this way for a few thousand years", suggests China no longer has potential, dictatorship is "bad", and China is making a "mistake" and not learning from thousands of years of experience. As for your comments "and absolute power corrupts absolutely". That is wrong. There were many Kings/Emperors in the past that had absolute power and werent corrupt at all. Their countries benefited from their rulings, and standard of living for their citizens rose.

Kameron Jones What with such big decision, theres bound to be disagreements. Thats normal. And whats thousands in a population for over 1 billion? Not even 0.01%. Still think theyre not doing it for the people? What evidence do you have to your claim?
1
Kameron Jones By making comments on what another country should and shouldnt do, and what will happen if they do this, and making the claim "there going to elect someone who benefit them regardless of what he does to the chinese people" without any evidence, is low-key interfering in another countrys internal affair. "They have the common sense to know were it leads them to" Implies that the Chinese dont have the common sense to see where it leads them to. Wow youre really looking down on the Chinese government lol
1
Kameron Jones "there going to elect someone who benefit them regardless of what he does to the chinese people" Thats absurd. Do you have evidence for your claim? Lets just say they do have power benefits. So what? As long as their position in power can benefit the country who cares? Chinas standard of living as increase year on year for the past few decades. Who are you to say what is good for China and what is not?
1
Kareron Jones "it may or may not happen with him but it will happen eventually it always does", and this doesnt happen with term limits? "people don't learn from past mistake" I believe this applies to all countries. Why does it seem like removing term limits is also a "mistake"?
1
Kameron Jones "with term limit they don't become dictators" Again, theres nothing inherently wrong with dictatorship, its the person behind it. If youre talking about another Mao, well now the president is elected by the party, all of which are highly educated. Mao rose to power only coz he won the war. He wasnt elected by an educated group of people. "to keep the horrible people from ruling for life" In China's case, any horrible person wont be elected; and secondly, incase he has split personality and somehow becomes horrible and does horrible things to the country, the party can kick him out.
