3:06 Wrong. Taiwan was not "ruled by Beijing" for 4 years since 1895. What a way to twist the facts. Taiwan has been "ruled by Beijing" for centuries since 1683. And its has been ruled by Republic of CHINA (ROC) since 1945. Taiwans government (ROC) sat in the UN and represented the country called CHINA until the 1970s. The matter between PRC (current Chinese government) and ROC is civil issue (the Chinese Civil War technically has not ended yet - no peace treaty was ever signed between ROC and PRC). No country on this planet has the right to intervene in another countrys affairs. You wouldnt want them intervening in our politics with military might would you?

@colinsmith1288 Like I said, every country has their own version of "freedom of speech". No country on this planet has absolute freedom to say what they want and not have repercussions. Just like the US, they dont have the freedom to say certain things. Not every "speech" has to involve politics for it to be considered "freedom of speech". There are always boundaries to what one can say. As for your homosexual comment, thats got nothing to do with freedom of speech. Thats a sexual preference. Homosexuality a crime in some countries, just like pedophilia and incest is in yours.

Steve Caldwell Yeh not too bright are ya? He obviously meant in terms of development. China was a shthole just a few decades back. Now its grown up to be a world power (and still growing). Thats what he meant by "adolescent phase"

@colinsmith1288 Every country in this world has "freedom of speech". Also every country in this world has laws that all citizens must abide by. In China you cant say certain things, in the US you cant say certain things (hate speech, verbal assault/hrasment, etc). Just abide by the laws. Its simple as that.

@stevecaldwell8740 He said the Chinese are in the adolescence phase OF THEIR DIPLOMACY. Diplomacy is based off the CURRENT ruling government. It does NOT take into consideration of previous governments diplomatic relationship nor their peoples culture. You are confusing "culture" with "diplomacy". Theyre 2 very different things.

@stevecaldwell8740 Just like Nazi Germany and the Japanese Empire prior to ww2. Everyone hated them and had poor diplomatic relationships with them. But now look, even the worst enemies of their past and now on good diplomatic terms with their current government. Doesnt matter how many hundreds or thousands of years German or Japanese culture had existed, its got NOTHING to do with the diplomatic relationships their governments have with other countries.
