@goodshipkaraboudjan This is a tit-for-tat response to Australias provocative military display near China. Surely you dont expect something "nice" as a response do you? You speak as if the West doesnt conduct military drills that dont disrupt civilian air/ship paths.

@goodshipkaraboudjan They followed international law, whether you like it or not. Dont like it? Protest to your government to have the international laws changed. This happened FAR OUTSIDE Australias territory.

@goodshipkaraboudjan So youre telling me China shot near civilian airliners? If not, then no civilians airliner was at risk. Even if it was in the same pathway, youre assuming they would continue shooting as the civilian airliner would be passing through. An unfair hypothetical scenario in your mind. I wonder where you criticism is for the US doing exactly what you dont like - live fire exercises in the pathway of civilian airliners/ships.

@goodshipkaraboudjan If China doesnt reveal the specific flights/ships, how would we know? But based on the drill map location, its well within air/ship paths. And I assure you, theres at least 100x more air/ships travelling through waters near China than in waters between AU and NZ. Moreover, for live fire, I did not specify AU or NZ. I said the West. For AU, I said its a tit-for-tat response to AUs provocative military display near China.

@Cats_and_Dogs_in_Farsi EEZ? Who said the exercise was within Australias EEZ? It was well over 200nm - they only sailed through the EEZ, not conduct firing exercises there. Moreover, even if the firing exercises happened within their EEZ, its still within their rights to do so.

@goodshipkaraboudjan Whether you think its "reckless" or "strange", its an appropriate response to Australias provocative military display near China. Australians are alarmed and on high alert just from the mere presence of Chinese warships coming "near" Australia, even without the live fire drill. Now just imagine how the Chinese mustve felt all this time with the US bringing all its allies (inc AU) near China for live drills and for "surveillance" aka spying there all the time. Every single time theres a live drill near China, thousands, not dozens or hundreds, but thousands of civilian aircraft/ships need to be rerouted, because its as you said it "its not right to put civilians at risk". Right? Wheres your criticism on the US and its allies then? Does that mean you also dont think the US and its allies shouldnt hold live fire drills all around the world, because "its not right to put civilian lives at risk"? I wouldnt want to think you have double standards. Right? Its also "reckless" and "strange" when the US does it, right? And you keep saying Australia never put Chinese civilian lives at risk. As oot007 has said, Australia was part of an alliance that invaded China around 1900. Doesnt matter if it was 100 years ago. You said Australia "NEVER" put Chinese civilians at risk, we are just pointing out AU indeed has. They committed crimes on Chinese soil. Worst than just merely "put civilians at risk". It was straight up murder.
