@dr.floridaman4805 "Mainlander moved to hong kong by the CCP or a true native?" No such thing as "true native". They all migrated there in the past 2 centuries

Koala1203 I dont understand why people keep saying that? HK was the most capitalistic place on earth when they had ZERO democracy. What makes you think it still wont be in the future?
33
@dr.floridaman4805 "Xinjiang province is not China" What do you mean? Xinjiang has been part of China for longer than USA has been a country. China only temporarily lost control over its borders due to foreign invasions of about a dozen countries thats all

Mr Bridge In what way is it still not? Back then they didnt have ANY democracy and was the most capitalist region. What makes you think it still wont be?

@warnercheng5564 "Capitalistic at his best is basically the economy is totally free from government hands However HK is going to the opposite" Not exactly. Even China is arguably seen as the most capitalist country in the world. Yet its economy is not "free" from the government. Whatever that means...Every country as laws and regulations on businesses

Phantom Thief Irwin "HK USED to be the most capitalist place on earth. But nowadays idk" If it USED to be the most capitalist place on earth without ANY democracy, what makes it still wont be even with hypothetically absolutely zero democracy?

@zyansheep "technically they were supposed to be self-governing for another 50 years..." Technically, HK was meant to abide by their Basic Law. HK violated it first. Especially Article 23: Hong Kong "shall enact laws on its own to prohibit any act of treason, secession, sedition, subversion against the Central People's Government, or theft of state secrets, to prohibit foreign political organizations or bodies from conducting political activities in the Region, and to prohibit political organizations or bodies of the Region from establishing ties with foreign political organizations or bodies." Article 23 was clearly violated yet nothing was done about it so China had to intervene. Also, HK IS still self-governing. They still have a HIGH degree of autonomy do they not? It was never in the agreement that HK was to have ABSOLUTE autonomy.

Zyansheep "The reason hong kong was influenced by China so easily was because corporations have the right to vote, and the CCP has control over what the corporations want" No. Its because theyre part of a country called China...so theyre influenced by the country called China...

@dr.floridaman4805 "dude hong kong was a swamp created by a white man" Wanna get technical? HK has no swamp and is no swamp. "Wanna get technical? Whitey is the native" Yeh lets get technical. There were East Asian villagers/tribes living there for thousands of years. It was never developed into anything more than a fishing village thats all. Tell me about how White man is "native" to there again.

Dennis The International Menace If it can be regarded as the most capitalist place on earth with zero democracy under the British, I see no reason for it to be any difference under the Chinese.
6
@PatheticTV "And OBVIOUSLY I am not happy with the encroachments on freedom we are facing" What encroachments on freedom? You mean the freedom China gave you guys that the British didnt?
6
@lu881 "I think he's too young to know anything about British rule man" He said he "OBVIOUSLY" understands why people are moving out. Meaning he has adequate knowledge of whats going on. Treat everyone as equals. Dont look down on others. "So just lay off on the unfair harassment" Fk off. Dont accuse others of things when I did exactly the same thing you did - ask a question. And dont tell me what to do. THATS harassment. Its uncalled for. Who do you think you are? Also, you dont know my age. I could only be a couple years older than him. If only a couple years difference is "unfair" then every single comment on the internet is "unfair" too. Dumb logic. And dont even pretend to be a saint here oh Keyboard Warrior Lu. Your initial comment said the OP had "true owners". How condescending is that? Whos YOUR "owner"? Does your government "own" you? The fact that you used to words "owner" implies that hes a slave of some sort with an owner. You seriously have issues looking down on others.

@chiefjudge8456 "Hong Kong is not China and will never be" I said theyre PART OF China. Not "IS" China. How can a city be a country?
5
@8is "China is not seen as one of the most capitalists countries in the world. The rampant corruption and government-instated monopolies put a stop to that" I dont think you understand what youre talking about here. Its EXACTLY the LACK of government intervention that monopolies exists. You only hear about governments BLOCKING monopolies, never encouraging it. Why do you think HK has so many monopolies? And Chinas monopolies outside of the resource sector are NOT state-installed, theyre privatised. And there is absolutely zero correlation between corruption and capitalism. Corruption exists in all systems of government.
5
@motleyzadot6867 "Because China has increased state control over the HK economy?" Really? What has China done to "control" HKs ECONOMY?
4
@josue3687 "Sadly that we gain most of the territory by the help of other races (Man people from Manchuria region)" People need to understand that a country is defined by sovereignty, not by "race". So theres nothing "unfortunate" about that.

@tubemanstudio6102 "what the fuck you talking about, mate. Article 23 never passed the legislative process in Hong Kong" What the fuck Im on about? Article 23 is part of the FOUNDATION of the EXISTENCE of HKSAR. Its not a "draft". Its part of Hong Kong BASIC LAW, or their "mini constituion". It PREDATED any existence of any "legislative process" or legco. Ill say your words right back at you "what the fuck you talking about".

@1mol831 "what is China depends on the beholder" No? There are legality to things. Whats within border of modern China is China. Including Xinjiang/HK which was what I was speaking about. I merely emphasised that Xinjiang has been part of modern China for longer than USA has been a country thats all.

@andro7862 "True natives of Hong Kong comprise less than 2% of the population and speak Hakka" Im sorry but thats incorrect. Those that speak Hakka came from the NORTH (to escape the wars) and migrated southwards to modern day Fujian region. Some migrated further to Taiwan, Guangdong (inc HK), Hainan and Vietnam etc
