Civil war isnt not a violation of human rights. And if you want to speak about the "current international order", the current international order is that Taiwan is part of China. And any independence movement from China is an act of terrorism. And an invasion of Taiwan can easily by justified then.

@KonradofKrakow Ahh yes. This is the beauty of interpretation. Yes, everyone has the right to choose their own future. But they dont have the right to overthrow a government. The rights of a nation comes before the rights of people. Its an unspoken rule that everyone knows. Might is right they say - not my words. And all these countries you speak of, are independent because no other country claimed their land. They pretty much ALLOWED them to be independent countries. Taiwan on the other hand is not unclaimed by another power, and it claims Mainland China itself so they cant say anything. "Are you saying that countries like e.g. Mexico, Ukraine, Algeria, Croatia, or Vietnam don't deserve independence because they were once parts of other countries?" No, they have independence because no one else claims their land. Not because they were "once part of other countries". Dont assume things.

@KonradofKrakow If people dont want to give away their land, they have every right to not give away their land. Also, youre naming all these countries that were invaded by those claimants. And Russia never had control of those countries. Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) had, and it was a (union)country of countries, and Russia was part of the USSR. USSR collapsed so those countries became independent again. Taiwan on the other hand was not invaded and exploited by China. It was built upon by the Chinese. And was welcomed by the natives there. So China has every right to be claiming Taiwan back, as what ROC did back in 1947. Funny how youre sayings its all PRCs fault when ROC is also claiming Mainland China including Taiwan. Why dont you point fingers at ROC for not revoking its claim on Xinjiang, Tibet, Mongolia and Mainland China? Its still written very clearly in their constitution. Moreover, PRC and ROC came to a consensus in 1992 that Taiwan and the Mainland are part of the same "One China". Whereby both sides of the straight are part of the same country. The only disagreement was who was the legitimate ruler of this China.

When its something so sensitive like sovereign territory or civil war, youre telling me voting is more powerful than firepower? Because it certainly feels like you think that way. Moreover, PRC guarantees Taiwan for be administered separately from the Mainland. Meaning Taiwan is still able to have extremely high autonomy to govern themselves.

Also, unless youre talking about Taiwanese aboriginals, all "Taiwanese" are Chinese by blood AND by nationality. Citizens of Republic of CHINA are CHINESE by default. J TS You cant exactly compare West Germany and East Germany when East Germany is clearly poorer than the West. "Communist" China is so much richer than Taiwan. Moreover, Taiwan wont be a "communist country", it will be a Special Administrative Region of China with their ability to self govern, much like Hong Kong and Macau.
