@dant4974 China took over assets after the country failed to pay back their debts? Is that Chinas fault or is that Sri Lankas fault? When people fail to pay back their mortgages and bank takes their home, is that the borrowers fault or the banks fault that they cant pay back?

@dant4974 "The west forgave most of their debt. That’s where the difference lies. Stop trying to take the moral high ground it’s china we’re talking about" After those countries did what they asked them to do, aka the "strings attached". You that its "free"? Theres strings attached to Western loans. How about YOU stop taking the moral high grounds defending the West with their "strings" telling countries what to do. Also, how much were these debt forgiveness per country? $10 million? $20 million? And were they from ONE country to another? Or Organisations? "They knew exactly what they were doing" You mean just like the West knew exactly what they were doing with their loans with "strings attached". I asked you a crucial question and you STILL havent answered: When people fail to pay back their mortgages and bank takes their home, is that the borrowers fault or the banks fault that they cant pay back?

@axel665 "Most of Sri Lanka debt is with China" Lies. Only 10% of Sri Lankas debt is with China.

@dant4974 "that “crucial question” is irrelevant. China knew they would default." Its 100% relevant. You spoke about China taking over Sri Lankas asset (port) over a default. Thats inline with normal banking standards. Why dont I see you condemn banks for taking ones assets as collateral in their loan contracts? Why dont you accuse them of "they know what theyre doing"? Also, one is innocent until proven guilty. What EVIDENCE do you have that China "knew" Sri Lanka would default? Youre literally talking out of your ass now. "And Stop defending communists. The CCP cares about them and themselves only...China doesn't give a crap about these developing nations but to take advantage of them." China is communist in name only. Whats "communist" about them again? Theyre arguable the most capitalist country in the world. And what you trying to say here? Anyone that deals with China have nothing to gain? China deals had always been about "win-win cooperations". If the other party has nothing to gain, then why have any deals or agreements? Clearly both parties benefit thats why a deal is signed. You accuse me of taking the "moral highground" when I merely state the facts. Whats with the double standards hey? Banks do the same. Wheres the condemnation there? The West also doesnt have a crap about these developing nations and take advantage of them. I dont see you condemning them in the SAME way as you are condemning China for something thats not even their fault. How about YOU stop taking the "moral highground" and condemn all practices EQUALLY if you are going to do it. Dont discriminate. "I have a brain and can think for myself. But, the CCP is doing the same thing and getting praised? Lmao please" Youre delusional. Clearly you dont. Wheres the praise? Quote me where I "praised" the CCP. I dare you. "Keep blaming the west for everyone else’s problems." Again, youre literally talking out of your ass now. Quote me where I made such "blame". "Maybe if others counties used their brains and logic went into their decisions, we wouldn’t need to have this conversation." No its YOU that need to use your brain before making comments. You think youre SOOOOO smart, smarter than those in their own profession. What qualifications do you have to do that? In business theres ALWAYS risks involved. What you trying to say now? Never take risks? "China plays the long game don’t play stupid with me" Play stupid? Where did I say they dont? More like the stupid one cant read. Seriously youre delusional. Youre getting so emotional youre making things up in your head. All countries play the long game, including YOURS. And let me remind you, it was Sri Lanka that reached out to China to borrow loans from, and it was Sri Lanka that wanted to build the port. But somehow thats Chinas fault?

@charlesfavell3350 "If you can't afford the mortgage the bank won't give you the loan What China does is very close to loan sharking" Who said that they werent projected to be able to pay back their loans? Sri Lankas political and economic landscaped changed over the years since the loan was issued. You going to blame China for Sri Lankas change in political and economic failures over the years too? If the bank issued the loan when the borrower was able to pay it off with their full time jobs, then was divorced and made redundant, thats the banks fault that they cant pay back the loan? Moreover, Chinas rates are in line with commercial rates. Loan shark rates are 100x+ that. Literally. How is that "very close" to loan sharking? Youre literally making this up without thinking.

@levitschetter5288 "That and half the countries can't pay back their loans now" Half? The number of countries that cant pay back their loans I can count on my hand. Out of 100+ countries involved, how is that "half"?

@carboy101 Not everything is about monetary profit and strategic assets. Diplomatic relationships were strengthened for most of these countries even if there was zero monetary profit. No other countries/organisations were willing to lend money to them with no strings attached like China has. Also, even if there was zero monetary profit, the infrastructures built can now be streamlined for more efficient and effective future trade from China outwards.
