The headline is very true. Thank you, Shri Shakti Sinha, for articulating it.

Important CTC. The most important news in my opinion is that the traditional lower income states are catching up. This is not the only big and positive change happening in India. Economists have to put the poverty numbers in context with the remarkable improvements in direct benefits transfer efficiency and the overall improvement in efficiency in many things like infrastructure, which improve productivity and ultimately incomes.

Thank you Neelam Pandey, for a thoughtful interview. We need more of these.

This is a big story that deserved decluttering, thank you. Both issues (data and edtech) have urgent relevance to India, and India will do well to study closely what and why they are doing and see if there are ideas that can be borrowed. Communist-capitalist ideological distinctions are a distraction.

Brief and thorough, couldn’t have Asked for a better presentation of a science story. Wish the Research were led by an Indian lab for obvious reasons, although access to analytical instrumentation and such trace analysis expertise may have been a stumbling block. Hopefully, lack of curiosity was not one.

Wonderful reporting and awe inspiring initiative by the wrestlers. Along with the training, which should be taking up the bulk of their time, it will be nice if the young children also get continued education in reading, writing, and maths. I hope the Haryana govt can help the akhadas provide the technology and resources for this so that the kids will grow up well-rounded. Not all of them will be able to earn a living as professional wrestlers.

Love Shri Sanyal's dress aesthetic.

Thank you for a fascinating story. It is relatively easy to breed dogs for desired characteristics. The army or some other security agency, if they don't already have such, should create a wing to create new breeds and research dog training methods.

"I did my masters in IE in US. We are an onshore supplier for major clothing and fast fashion brands. On a revenue of ~$300M, we invest about $10-15M per year in R&D and capital equipment. Our Indian counterparts, which are less revenue making but more profitable in net margins terms, invest only about 2-3% in R&D and capital equipment, rather preferring to float on their cheaper labor factors."

This is nice science, relevant to Indian audiences in more than one way. In the future, it would be wonderful to mix in conversations with the science teams along with description of the science. Models exist in how Nature or Cell podcasts present their stories.

A vital conversation and thoughtful questions; thank you for conducting it.

This CTC is awe-inspiring in its breadth and depth. Hope the quality stays consistent.

Mesmerizing, No doubt the parts that required an expert human eye can be replaced by machines when they can be done cheaper and better. Questions is if that should be inevitable, or desirable.

Complicated topic, great CTC.

A new national media is arising as the legacy 'national media' withers. I am expecting that there will be consolidation of excellent channels like this into bigger entities in a few years.

Loved the scarf brand endorsement at the end. Happy New Year to everyone at The Print!

This is brilliant! Thanks for making this tutorial. Can you give some general advice on how big a laptop (ram, CPU, GPU) you need to run LLMs locally?

Thanks!

Shekhar ji, we are gratified that you pay attention, and will continue to call things out as the issues merit.

Good to know there is a dedicated graphics person - we shall be more demanding :-) The graphics are very helpful but the axis labels are too small. Fewer tick marks and a bigger font.

Very nice summary, thank you. Please do also mention where the paper was published.
