It used to be in winter if we had an Arctic cold snap it was always just the jet stream. It is only in the past several years we heard polar vortex

There was a lot of projects funded in the New Orleans area pre Katrina that money was used for other things. You build a major city below sea level and river level you have a recipe for disaster. Eventually the New River Control Structure will fail and the Mississippi River will take a different route to the Gulf. And that is when New Orleans really begins to die.

We are not the center of the Universe. But we are the center of the VISIBLE universe

While the Milankovich Cycles certainly have a major effect on whether or not the Earth slips into a Glacial Period there is another factor that needs to be addressed. The arrangement of the Earth's tectonic plates and the continental landmasses have a major effect. The way they effect this is how they shape the global ocean currents. It is thought that the rise of the southern part of Central America shutting off of the circulation between the Pacific and Atlantic Basins is what tripped the Northern Hemisphere into the current Glacial Age 2.5 million years ago. The Southern Hemisphere has been in a Glacial Age for around 30 million years when South America seperated from Antarctica and the circum polar current became established. This shut off the transfer of warmer water to the higher latitudes surrounding Antarctica. There also has to be cyclical pattern in the shift between known warm and cold periods. These are periods that are far too short to be the result of orbital or axial changes. These almost have to be related to changes in Solar output.

I always wondered were the O2 in the atmosphere comes from on desert planets.

The thing I'm curious about is just how did Pluto aquire its family of moons given the distance between objects that far out and the weak gravitation field.
