The biggest mistake we made with nuclear was not going with a standardized plant design like France did. When Carter went to 3MI he got more radiayion exposure on the flight from DC to Harrisburg. When they had the Congressional hearings the AEC/NRA inspectors were asked how they measured the radiation. They had their Gieger Counters with them. When they measured yhe radiation levels in the hearing chamber it was far higher than the 3MI. Just from all the naturally radioactive stuff in the stone work of the hearing chamber.

To far too many people "pay their fair share" means everybody else pays through the nose and I don't pay anything.

@clarkkent9080 OK Clark, the point was so that everyone would understand what they were using.

Does Al Gore prefer to be addressed by A) Senator? B) Vice President? Or C) Wannabe President. OK. All joking aside. The main problem is too many people. Sure, the Earth could support a bigger population. But at what cost. So far the only things that can slow population growth besides draconian government policies is education and wealth. Better educated and wealthier societies tend to have lower birth rates. Sometimes tragically low that lead to demographic issues. See Japan. And don't ask me to give an answer for reducing population.

In the aftermath of Katrina I made the suggestion that the feds should convert or build temporary housing out of standard 40 foot shipping containers and store them in rail yards as double stack unit trains. This idea was mainly intended for disaster evacuation. Converting shipping containers into emergency shelters seems workable. If converting containers into urban housing is fine for hipsters why would it it be bad for the homeless.
