  7. Theres actually a city in Wisconsin named Portage. Because, well it was where there was a Portage between the Fox River Drainage which flows into Lake Michigan and the Wisconsin River that then flows into the Mississippi. Basically on the route between Upper Canada and St Louis.

  8. One other thing to remember is the Viking era to a largely degree corresponds with the Medieval Warm Period. And I have yet to hear a good explanation to the causes of different warm and cold climate eras.

  9. I could go for a winter without any snow. Not likely though. Hard on the garden though. A cold winter with hardly any snow means lost perennials.
