  1. One would think that the Navy would of learned something from the loss of USS Miwaukee, a St Louis class cruiser, only a few years before. The coast of California can be a cold and rocky place. Although the loss of the Milwaukee and the destroyers took place under different circumstances they had the same underlying fault. There's the the right way, the wrong way. And the NAVY way!
