The picture of the Marine sitting on what appears to be a dud 14" projectile is priceless. Just where does the term 'dude's originate anyways?

Shannon also greatly benefited from the quite rapid incapacitation of the Chesapeake's command structure. Whether this not happening effected the overall outcome in terms of Shannon winning the fight if it had not happened I can not say. But when your vessels command personnel along with your helmsman are either killed or severely wounded in rapid succession it does not help. But in the long run Lawerence should not have accepted the challenge to come out and fight. His duty as an officer in his country's service was more important than any regard for his personal or his ships honor.

@philvanderlaan5942 Really he probably thought, "how nice of the Navy to drop this dud off right where I need to sit down and get this rock out of my boot". From the looks of the Marine he's had a rough time. I hope he survived. In reality it was a totally unnecessary operation
