  1. There was a test program that was run in Germany. Electric semi trucks were fitted with pantographs like on electric trains. One lane of a section of autobahn was equipped with overhead wires. I'm not sure how it worked out but imo this is the only viable solution for long distance trucking if you want to go electric. It still would not be cheap to build but it does at least offer the possibility of recovering costs thru charges for power consumed by the vehicle. Workable? I'm not qualified to answer that. I still think that the majority of long distance frieght over land should move by rail whenever practical.
