  2. Just look at the glorification of self mutilation. From excessive piercings or tattoos to "gender positivity" surgeries. What's next? Creative scarring? Amputation of limbs or digits by "choice" or as "therapy" because the cause the individual distress?

  4. The people who decry that the cathedrals, palaces and other state constructions were a waste of money when that same money could have just been given to the poor. They fail to understand just what the economic effect of those massive construction projects was. From the men working in quarries to cut the raw stone, to the carters that transported the stone. The stonemasons that cut it to size. The carpenters that built the scaffolding. The sculptures that carved staturay. The men and women who grew the flax or raised the sheep that provided the textiles that went into producing the textiles. The bee keepers who provided the wax for candles. Those in the glass industry. Gold and silversmiths. The artists and craftsmen who produced the furnishings or interiors. The money paid for their labor and produced something that can stand for centuries. The money paid for apprentices so that skills were passed down. Money just given to the poor produces nothing but future empty bellies. Which require more money to fill. Temporarily.
