One thing I think that the Federal government should do is get rid of the FEMA trailer idea. If we are going to provide temporary housing I think a far better option would be to build the temporary housing out off the basic fourty foot shipping container. These would be much more robust. Plus they would be stackable. These could be prepositioned as unit trains in areas of low risk and possibly on shipping. Would they be luxurious? No, but they aren't meant to be. I wonder just how many of the FEMA trailers were usable post Katrina. Also I think it's high time we made changes in building codes in this country. You live in tornado alley and you build houses out of 2x4s? There has to be a better way.

@zenogias01 Add in the fact that NO is perhaps the most corrupt city in the country. Plus they repeatedly used funds meant for improving levees etc for other things. The pictures of all the school buses sitting in water up to their windows says a lot about the incompetence of the city government.
