This lunacy started as soon as the "everyone has to go to college" began.

And who pray tell will have to clean up the mess. And pay for it. The Chazistas should be made to clean it up themselves preferably with toothbrushes and make whole out of their own pockets any damages incurred by individuals or businesses.

If we ever do this l suggest that amount of debt cancelled equals the absolute worth of the degree. If the degree is worthless, tough titties.

@paulfeste6904 Only today a lot employers would rather hire people who wer trained somebody else

@neilkurzman4907 Note l didn't say that. For certain professions a bachelor's or post graduate degree is definetly required. Other paths in life are better served with an associate's or an apprenticeship. The sad thing in society today at least as far as the education industry (1) is that by their estimation is that those not suited for any occupation requiring training should be doomed to a life of ever decreasing expectations. That said education is always valuable to the individual. If you have an interest in a certain field anywhere from astronomy to zoology have at it. Just realize that the job market may not be large enough to allow you to find a position in that field. And unless one is independently wealthy gainful employment is always good as one does need to eat. 1) Don't kid yourself. It is an industry. They sell a product and dreams. They produce a finished good. They constantly seek to increase the income and profitability of their "industry".

@missylks1239 There are a lot of Boomers who went to college simply to get draft deferments

Everybody forgot the Judge Smails rule. "The world needs ditch diggers too."

@dutchdna No what they are saying not everyone needs a college degree. Or should need one. I've known both HS and college graduates that are successful. And both that live hand to mouth.

Maybe we can get people in Portland to move to Baltimore. They deserve each other.

@andrewthompson5728 Thousands? Tens or hundreds of thousands more likely. One problem is the cost of education has been out stripping inflation for decades. Why is that. Possible reduction in public support for state owned and operated institutions? Possibly it's inflated employment on the administration side of institutions public and private. Possibly it lies in the seemingly ever increasing number of fields that it is possible to earn a degree in. Fields that likely did not exist 20 or 30 years ago. Some of these fields also exist due to parsing one field into ever smaller slivers. Admittedly some of these degrees can exist in STEM as new developments offer new opportunities.
