All the effort that Ireland has put into restoring Gaelic will go for nought when it is replaced by Urdu, Arabic or Pushtu.

@noelpucarua2843 I have Irish ancestors but l do not consider myself to be ethnicly Irish. Nor do l consider myself to be ethnicly Danish. Even though my family tree is 50% Danish. I was merely observing the eventual result of a policy of basically unlimited immigration from other regions.

@DaBriars Every country? Probably most countries have some ethnic Irish living in their borders. But all? Aside from diplomatic staff and families l can't imagine any ethnically Irish immigrating to say North Korea. Or some African nations.

Just think how peaceful the Middle East could be today if post WWll the nations there had welcomed Jewish refugees seeking a safe haven following the experience of the Holocaust (1). Welcoming a population of educated and skilled individuals could have done wonders for their economies. 1) l say could instead of would because playing that game is little more than wishful thinking.

@DaBriars Welcomed? Maybe some places. Certainly not where my Irish ancestors went. Plus they were never given a roof over their head and food in their mouths. Plus they realized even with the prejudice against them they had to assimilate into the larger society. How many of today's immigrants are willing to do that. I don't expect immigrants to Ireland, Britain, the US, France or any other Western countries to turn into culturally perfect copies of the Irish or anyone else. But the immigrants should not expect Ireland or any other country to turn into the nation they fled. One of the Central American presidents has stated the problems of wide spread massive immigration is to a large degree the fault of the countries the migrants are fleeing from. The fault lies in that these countries have failed their own citizens. Are their problems all their fault? No they aren't. Some of their problems can be traced to US interference. Just as some nations problems can be traced to economic policies they attempted and could not afford. Or implement properly.
